I swear to god this is the worst game anyone has ever put out. I mean Friday the 13th for the nintendo was more fun.
The idea they had for the game is great. To bad the didn't put any effort into making the game run properly. What are these people who made this game thinking when the put it out on the market? "Hey guys....it only crashed on me after the 12th game....WHOOO HOOO...we got a keeper!!" I'm sorry but the people who made this game should be fired. If anyone knows the number I can call to speak to these people personally I would love to have it. B/c I am 30 bucks in the whole and about as frustrated as anyone can be. I know it is not my computer which is at fault b/c I recently bought a brand new Dell and I know I have all the current versions of this game (4.0c). So why is it when I simulate a week it just pauses on me and when I ctrl/alt/del it says the game is not responding? Don't even try to say I have other programs running b/c I shut down EVERYTHING....I mean EVERYTHING! This game is trash. I'll give them little credit and say I like how close the stats resemble real life but I would rather have Sammy Sosa hit 95 HR's and the game not crash on me rather than every 5 mins I have to reboot. I know I am not the only one having problems....the board is always flooded with people who can't make this run right. Times like this I miss EARL WEAVER BASEBALL. So just for future reference for the idiots at OOTP4.....lets run a little more in depth tests on the game before you put it out just to make a few bucks from people who really enjoy sports games. I've learned my lesson.....I don't see OOTP5 in my future. |

Test this thing??????
--Let me tell you, you little twerp that this game was tested! I, and MANY others have been playing for a LOONG time with NO crashes. Sounds to me like you dont know what the hell you are doing. We need more info to diagnose why your game is crashing, but coming on here and saying all the **** you just said is WAY out of line!! Get a life and tell us what point in the game yours is crashing and we will help figure out why its happening, but the way in which you posted this isnt helping things!!!!!! |

NO, its the best game that is available and if you'll give me some more info, as I stated, I'll help you with your problem.
But if you just want to say "It sucks" and forget it, like some little kid, so be it. What do I care if you never get to experience this great game? |

ok....if you would read my first post you would see I told you what the problem is. The game freezes and does not respond when I simulate more than one day at a time.
So I guess it is me that is causing the crash....I mean...I must be pushing the "simulate " button wrong. Do I push it with my index finger? or my pinky? or are some of you using your toes? |

Don't know why it won't work for you, I've spent literally hundreds of hours playing it and the game rarely if ever has crashed. Are there any open spots in someones lineup or rotation? That can cause a crash. Try simming one game at a time and see on which one it crashes. Then, check both teams to make sure depth chart/lineup/rotation are full. Hope this helps and get a better fucking attitude, OK? Cheers Rich [ 04-28-2002, 09:30 PM: Message edited by: SoxWin ]

It might help to have some tact in asking for help. From you other posts and topics you seem to not return to offer any specifics or feedback to assist those willing to help. We all know how frustrating it is to be unable to play or access something . To attack the makers and the game without taking the time to give your system specs and details about the type of league its hard to offer much help. And feedback on previous suggestions might help any still willing to help to better assist you. Best of luck on trying to take the time to let the ootp community help you be able to enjoy OOTP like most of the rest of us.

ok
I used Lahman database to import people and used rolen rosters as well. Only one human managed team which I changed now the computer controls everything. I named the league Weaver and backed it up |

Why didn't the experts at OOTP4 make it so it could just tell you to replace someone on the roster rather than having the game crash. I mean I am not a computer mastermind but that sounds reasonable. And no...it has nothing to do with my lineups b/c I got tired of it and let the computer mange everything. I mean seriously.....that would be alot more helpful if it told you what you needed to replace rather than making it a guessing game. But I guess that is just way to technically advanced for the OOTP4 people. |

Did you see the post? You need to check the lineups/depth charts/ and pitching rotations for the teams involved in the games when you have the crash. In general 98% of the crashes caused during simulation are caused by invalid lineups. To solve this you need to check your teams lineups/depth charts / and rotations and ensure all players in the lineups have a position. If you go to the League Setup Screen and click "Run Computer Manager on All Teams" this will generally fix any invalid lineups that the computer teams might have. If you do this you should avoid the majority of crashes. |

Razor, after a trade or injury sometimes even the computer teams will have an invalid lineup. Running Computer Manager often solves the problem.

did that...still says not responding
But look at what everyone who is trying to help is saying what the problems could be. I want you all to sit back and look what you have typed and you are telling me this game is great when something like trading with the computer could cause a crash or not having the computer controlled teams lineup right?? I mean really people....look at what everyone has said the problem could be and tell me if all those things sounds like OOTP4 could have done ALOT better of a job getting this game ready for the public. Its all stupid $hit that I have NEVER seen be a problem for any other baseball game. I'm used to RAM being a problem or too much HD space has been taken up....something I have control over. But all these problem I keep hearing from OOTP4 are just laziness from the developers and thats it. Like I said earlier and whoever wants to keep quoting me can bring this up.....I said I like the idea behind the game....they just didn't finish it and thats sad. [ 04-28-2002, 09:53 PM: Message edited by: razorriggs ] |

List the folders and files which are inside your league's folder that is crashing.
Also, are there other leagues in your game? Do they do the same thing? [ 04-28-2002, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: Cooleyvol ] |

Do you have any other programs running in the background when you play the game? Sometimes the game will say "Not Responding" but its actually just doing a lot of processing and some patience will show the game actually processing. When is the game hanging.... what is it doing... is it trying to save or sim the minor leagues? If the game is hanging and not crashing to desktop then its not the invalid lineup problem... One thing that could be an issue is the crash may have corrupted that league, which means you'd have to start a new league. |

This must be an incredibly rare bug, because I've simulated over 200 seasons with only my team human controlled, making no adjustments to the CPU rosters, and I've never once had the game lockup unless I did something moronic (I put too many zeros into the AB column once and after a game or two with 600 to 400 type scores, it just died =).

PATHETIC! quote me....take a picture...or write it down ....I don't care. No one is going to change my opinion of this game. |

Skip it, guys. This kid doesnt want help, he wants to bitch.
Ive emailed him amny times and he refuses to answer the questions about the files in his league or if he has other leagues that work correctly. He's installed rosters and might have done something wrong when he did that, so there's no helping him. He knows it all! |
