random in game freezing

Whenever I try and play a game in OOTP, it always seems to freeze up after a couple of plays; the screen seems to be trying to refresh, and when it can't, it freezes. Im running XP, and its an 800mhz w/ 256 Mb ram, plently of hard drive space. Im wondering what the issue could be; it only happens in game when the pbp just seems to stop. any help would be appreciated.

How much is "plenty" of HD space? Are you doing any one certain thing that makes this happen? How long are you wainting before you determine it is frozen?

steve, there's about 20 gigs of free hard drive space; Im waiting approximately a minute.. the text stops coming after a play..ie "he's out"; since im running with fast pbp, I click (like it says) or expect the next line, but it seems to ignore the clicks anywhere on the screen.

Strange, I know that w/ v3 the game would "appear" to freeze when you clicked the mouse too soon. But if you wait it will return to proper functioning. Could this be the case here?
