Problem importing OOTP League
I just bought the game and wanted to start my initial career in 1988.
I created 1988 in OOTP, using the Lahman database, then closed OOTP, opened ITP and created my namesake, but.... When I try to import the League, ITP crashes. It works fine when I just create a fictional league. The only message I get is "ITP has caused an error in ITP.exe". Not exactly descriptive. Has anyone else encountered problems importing OOTP Leagues?

Ive imported a few leagues, most of them historical leagues import from Lahmans DB and had no problems.
I think the 1.02 patch was supposed to fix this, but make sure all teams are set to CPU in OOTP5 before import into ITP. Also, make sure your OOTP5 league is set to "Career". Other than that, I havent seen any problems. One word of advice: if you are going to use real rookies and you are creating a brand new league in OOTP5 first (one that hasn't had a rookie draft yet), simulate a full season in OOTP5 first, then "proceed to next season". - This will import your first crop of rookies into OOTP5. After you do this, start ITP, create your player, then import the league. This will place your player in the ammy draft with that years real players. - If you do not import rookies into OOPT5 before you import the league into ITP, ITP will create all fictional players for the first ammy draft, and you will not get the real guys until the first ITP season is over. Another thing to remember with historical league imports. Most of the time, OOTP5 historical league cpu teams do not have a full minor league roster for all levels. If this is the case, ITP will create fictional players, and add them to the rosters, so you get a mix of real/fictional players. I havent really figured out a way around this yet Last edited by Nukester; 12-27-2003 at 08:45 PM. |

I am still having the same problem. I tried all the steps you recomended. As soon as it imports the box scores and tries to open the league, the game crashes. Any other ideas that I could try.

I tried all combinations actually. I first tried importing into a current season I was running which I figured bombed because I was in the middle. Tried to import myself into a long running historical league that was in the offseason and that crashed. Then I tried creating a new historical league both when I first started then I simmed a year and tried it again. The historic leagues were all created with Lahmans Database. Any help would be much appreciated.
I am also using the latest patch for ITP. |

Hmm......and I ass/u/me that you are importing the OOTP5 league into ITP and not just copying the files from OOTP5 to ITP, correct ?
The only time I have had it crash on me was when I was trying to copy files over from one game to the other, not using the import option in ITP. |

Yep I am using the import function in ITP. I guess I'll have to keep playing around with it and see what happens. Thanks for the advice and happy new year.

One other thing you can do is after making sure that the league is set to "Career" and all teams are set to "CPU" (latest patch supposedly fixed this, but it wouldnt hurt to do it yourself) is to run Computer manager on all of the teams, then try the import.
