illegal operations

The first time I launch the game after I install it, it runs fine but when I exit, and try to enter the game a second time, I get an illegal operation notice. I've reinstalled it 3 times and this happens every time. Please help

-RAM
-Free HD space
-Programs running in the background
-Do you have recently updated video drivers
-What version of DirectX is installed
-Have you actually run the game
-What OS are you using

-128 RAM
-15 free GB
-Video drivers are updated
-newest one, 8.1 i think
-not sure what you mean, but yes it runs the first time after i install it. It usually then freezes when it is saving and then after i reboot and start the game I get an illegal operation notice almost immediately
-Windows 98

How long do you wait before you determine the game has "frozen up"?

about two minutes, usually only takes about twenty seconds to save

At what point in the season are you when this happens?

Usually not in the middle but either near the beginning of the season or near the playoffs but there is not specific point.

I've only done historical leagues, but its frozen in 3 different leagues

Try a non-historical one like the default league.
