Post Players with Wrong Names???

Okay, I'm in the 6th season of a fictional league I have going, and I have "everything" set to computer control, except when I want to make a few changes here & there. Anyway, I'm manually doing this year's Amateur Draft, and for two players so far, their names are wrong. Let me explain:

San Francisco goes to draft 2B prospect E. Vollmer from the Amateur Draft screen. I right click on him to draft him, and it pops up "Sign Paul Tinsley?" This guy is the only 2B left in the draft, so I'm not clicking on the wrong guy.

I've had another similar problem. Oakland shows up in the Draft "Filled Positions" screen as having 22 1B in their organization. I was somewhat shocked by this, so I went to the transaction page, and there were maybe 5 in all the levels combined. I checked their team transaction log, and it seems 1B Martin Hunt was dealt about 10 times in the offseason. Check this out:

And after all of that, they release the guy. When I checked the FA list, Martin Hunt was nowhere to be found though. I suppose it's because of the same "name" problem. Any ideas what's causing this? Why isn't running the computer manager assuring that there isn't a surplus of players, if this is the problem? If not, I have no clue.

Just to follow-up, after some heavy checking, almost EVERY team has this problem. I release one guy from their minor league roster, but the name listed when released is entirely different. Some teams have one player repeated about 15 times on the team. I released as many extra players as I could, and then deleted them, but there are still more players that are like this. What is up with this??

I have no idea why this is happening nor have I ever seen or experienced this before. What type of league and roster set are you using to get this result?

I'm using the default (Career2002.lg) rosters, started with an Initial Draft for a fictional league. I swapped some teams from league to league, but the AL still has 14 teams and the NL still has 16 teams. For the most part I've just been simulating, making slight adjustments, transactions, etc. throughout the seasons that I've simulated.

I've toyed with the League Totals "during" the season when noticing the stats being a bit off, but I hadn't had any problems the previous seasons with this. I have No DH in either league. I only run a 4 or 5 amateur draft each year, and this year when I started it, I tried to draft players and several names were entirely different on the list than the "Sign ________?"

During the draft, I noticed teams had inordinate amount of players at certain positions. (Ex. Martin Hunt, 1B, OAK). Martin Hunt had been traded several times, but about 10-12 copies of him were in Oakland's Single-A affiliate. I released TONS of players that seemed to be clogging the system (I know about the 40 player per level problem) and now no teams have over 40 players at each level, but randomly these problem players (Hunt) STAY on the team even after I've released him. (When I release one copy of him, it SHOWS that it releases all of him, but when I go to the FA screen, he's nowhere to be found.)

System specs: Dell Pentium IV, 1.6 GHZ Processor, 128-MB RAM, 12.4 GB hard drive space free.

Sounds almost like the duplicate player bug from OOTP3, but it shouldn't be present in the default roster set to my knowledge.

Have you had any crashes while running OOTP4? Is there a chance something may have gotten corrupted?

Other than the occasional slow-down, the game hasn't really given me any "buggy" type problems at all in the month that I've had it. I'm sure there's always a possibility of something being corrupted, but it's very hard to troubleshoot that. I have all the folders intact in the league, and there is nothing else in the season going wrong. Has anyone else had any troubles when changing league totals during the season or having both leagues without a DH? Those are the only oddities that I'm really doing.

I'm running everyone on computer manager, and then just occasionally setting them all to Human for some minor cosmetic changes. I always click the Run Computer Manager before a season, and haven't had any schedule conflicts at all yet either. Players just seem to be linked to some other name, because some players name's are in the minor leagues of one team, but if you do a Search for THAT same player, sometimes you don't get anything, other times you get a link to another player from an entirely different team.

I'm stumped.

Cool

Guys... I'm going with memory here, but I do remember seeing this at times when I moved teams around between divisions. I can't say for sure, but I think if it's not done at the right time, things like this can happen. I've never done a complete study on it however.
