Rosters in ITP
Does anyone know if we will be able to download current rosters into ITP. Meaning, can our created player end up facing the likes of Randy Johnson or play along side the great Albert Pujols?

It is a minor league game, not major league. No idea if that will be possible.

A minor league game? Is this a revelation for the game or was it always the intention. I thought from the stickies I read that one of the goals was to "make it"? I know the details are being sorted still, but can we get a bone tossed here on whether the game will progress past the "make it" part or will it just be a minor league game as you mentioned?

The major emphasis of the game is "making it" to the majors, which is primarily "minor leagues". I honestly don't know what % of the game will be minor or major at this point.

This totally changes my perception and interest in this game.
I thought that it was similar to OOTP in the sense that there is a minor league progression, but your career gets even better and more dramatic once you hit the majors. Sponsorships and Rookie cards (2 things mentioned in the above quote) don't even happen until you get to the majors. This is an interesting twist. |

well seeing as that post was from 8 months ago, i think the game could have changed since then.

Will it allow for an import into OOTP6. That would let you keep it going (like the NCAA/Madden series).

From my understanding, you were able to take leagues from OOTP5 and input it into the game. I remember reading that on this board. If I can locate the actual text, I shall.

Here it is, from the newsletter:
::Having created the character in the last newsletter, I am now ready to start my professional career. The final step of character creation is the selection of the league in which you choose to play. You can use the default league (a league with fictional players that mirrors the real life league set up) or you can simply import any OOTP 5 league. I chose the default league, and the character is available for the 2003 first-year player draft. :: This leads me to believe that you CAN play in the big leagues, which is further evidenced by this comment: ::Home sweet home! Here you can view your most important stats and ratings on one screen. However, an incredible variety of other stats are available as well, even game-by-game stats of all your minor league games at any given point in the season. Your home also features your equipment, awards and, once you made it to the Big Leagues, your rookie card. The overall goal of ITP is to have a great career and, in the process, increase the value of your rookie card, making it a true collector’s dream! :: Your career doesn't end when you made it to the Show. It's only just started. Therefore, if you're going to have a grossly overpriced rookie card, you better have a Hall of Fame career to go along with that. End result: Big-league play will be in the game. At least, that's how I view it. |

Exactly... basically ITP has three important phases.
1) Character creation... very important for your career path. 2) Minor Leagues... how long you stay there, depends on your difficulty level and how well you work out. A little luck is involved as well of course, just like in real life the road to the show may be blocked because of better prospects or good players on the big league roster at your position. 3) The real fun begins once you get to the show! The great equipment that enhances your character is pretty expensive and out of reach if you just earn the $3k a month in the minors. Also, negotiating your contracts just happens in the bigs ![]() To the original question, you can import EVERY OOTP 5 league and start your career there... |

So what's the answer for importing ITP players into OOTP?

Considering the actual baseball skill of some of the guys who'll be playing this game (like me) perhaps the game should start out in Little League!
