Can I import a player for the draft?

I would like to import real players into my fictional league. I would like to add say 5 actual major league players into my league. I would like these players to be drafted, not signed as free agents. Is this possible?

If you only want to bring in 5 real players, it's probably easiest just to edit an existing amateur to have the same ratings, etc. as the player you want to bring in.

And what do you need to do if you want to import a whole draft class, is this possible.

There is actually an option when importing players from the database into the free agent pool that asks if you want the player to be put into the draft pool. This only applies when you import them in their first year.

Ex: When importing Vladimir Guerrero from 1996, it will ask you "import as a rookie" meaning you can place him in the amateur draft.

You will have to edit the ratings though through the "edit all free agents" feature because the talent ratings will be off.

Don't know about entire draft classes though.

What is the easiest way to know what his ratings would be?

Not sure I know exactly what you're asking but I'll try to answer.

When you import a player from a certain year, his talent and ratings are based on that year's statistics.

For example, since Guerrero only played in 9 games in 1996, his talent and ratings will be very poor. You'll need to adjust the talent levels to make them more realistic.

You can always create a league just to import players into and see what their ratings look like.
