Exclamation Help: Stuck in Signing Coaches Phase!

While my game was loading the new draftees and getting the free agency phase ready, my computer crashed, and when I loaded the game back up I was "stuck" in the Sign Coaches phase. Now everytime I click on Finish All Days it does nothing, and when I click on Finish Day it simply adds another day. I'm on day 22 out of 5 right now! Please let me know how I can fix this. Thanks.

Jimbo, my brother is also having the same problem, as well as at least one other poster so far.

Tell me, are you also having the same other problems that he is having.....He creates a new league (w/ challenge mode on) and gets the .exe error almost every time he clicks on his teams transaction page? Are you running Win ME?

There are a couple of strings on this board already that describe this same problem, but there doesn't seem to be a solution yet.

Actually I haven't tried playing with the challenge mode on. I remember having a few problems with it in ootp 3 so I opted not to try it. I just created a league w/ the challenge mode on and it didn't give me and problems, but I don't know how much that really means since I didn't really play around with it at all. Oh well it's not looking too good, unless there's a new patch that could fix the algorithm, it looks like if your day is greater than 5 you're screwed... Time to start up a new team I guess =p

Well actually, I just tried something that seemed to work, or at least get it out of the hire coaches sequence. I clicked on League Setup on the League tab. In that menu you'll see a RESET LEAGUE button. Anyways I tried this out and it loaded up the next season (2006 for me). Of course I lost the free agent and drafting part of the game. Actually what it seemed to do was put all the free agents and draftees into the free agent pool, and they sign for ridiculously low pay.. A 3rd baseman rated all brillants and goods was asking for 2 mill, and the #1 pitcher on the market with mostly 8's was asking for 2 mill also.. I guess if there isn't any other way to do it this is the way, at least the game isn't permanantly stuck.. LMK if you find anything.

Hi. I've had that same problem. I did figure out the "Reset League Fix" but that's really not an option if I want to continue to enjoy. It skips the free agents period--sometimes to the amateur draft, sometimes to the beginning of the next season. Either way, no Spring Training either.

I have installed the newest patch, but that hasn't helped. Anyone know of a fix??

I am also hitting this problem. It seemed to be related to a HTML report export crash. I was done with the coaches signing time, went to export the HTML. It crashed on the first team's batting report (another bug? was also in OOTP3). Then, after I recover from the crash, I am back on day 6/5 in the coaches signing period. I now cannot get out of this mode. I do not want to reset my league.

Thanks guys - I had the same problem as well. Happened to me before, but I seemed to have gotten past it and then drafted - this time I just "Reset". Starting with a new team anyways so I'll take my lumps early!

Question

Does anyone know of another option besides restarting?

Not off hand... but if you guys could tell me the exact steps to recreate the problem I will try to recreate it and see what I can find out.

I will also link to this thread in the beta forum so that Markus is aware of this (in case he hasn't already been notified (although I think he may already know about this)).

Sorry, but the bug is still in there. I have started two custom leagues one with both with 40 teams, once with 4 divisions and once with 6 divisions. Two teams were human controlled. I can finish the initial draft, and the first season, then i hire coaches. Once free agency starts both teams offer to players, but once you press finish day the game crashes and when you restart, its at the signing coaches screen day 6 of 5.
My comp: AMD athlon 1000
128 MB ram
Win ME
40 GB free hard drive space
tnt vanta video card
OOTP4vb
any suggestions to stop this from happening again would be appreciated.
Thanks
