Is there a downside to teaching
minor leaguers new postions? Does it affect their development in other areas?

From my experiences it tends to slow their development a bit (not always though) and there seems to be an increased chance for a talent loss.
Basically I try to leave stars alone unless it is extremely valuable to move them. Mid level players and lower I teach all the time though. Also if a guy is nearing 26 and still has lots of room to develop I try to leave them alone since they may not be able to make up for the slow-down in development rate (which may just be my perception and not truly exist however). Once they are 26+ their development rate is slow to non-existent anyway so I will teach away again. |

I know that I've gotten ingame emails stating that "a player isn't adapting their new position very well. Why don't you stop before their hitting starts to suffer." I guess that would also mean that that JAttractive is right.
