UPDATE: October 27th
I apologize for my absence from the boards for the last four days. Thinking that the game was going to be done, I planned a brief vacation to visit my daughters. Unfortunately, the game was not released on the 24th, but the tickets had already been purchased. At any rate, I'm back and I did manage to work on the game off and on while away. I'll address a number of issues as best I can:
1. I deleted a thread that contain insulting and personal attacks. I believe that we deserve some criticism for our inability to hit release dates (which we have studiously avoided making), but some of the comments went well beyond criticism. I intially posted a long and vehement rant but realized that the only purpose that served was to encourage the few who seem to enjoy skewering us. Our policy from this point on will be very simple: any criticism of the product will not only remain on the boards, but also be discussed and addressed. Any criticism of either my brother or me personally will remain if it is legitimate (i.e. we fail to answer problems in a timely manner; we don't monitor the boards and respond promptly to questions). Any personal attacks will simply be deleted. 2. The boards present several problems that will be alleviated once the game is finished. Many of the questions that arise can and should be answered by the programmer; however, right now, he is spending 12 hours a day, finishing the product. I try to check the board every day and respond as needed. I also try to forward or alert the programmer when there is a post to which I can offer no accurate answer. However, some of the latter fall through the cracks, lost among the hundred and one things that need done to complete the game. 3. Where does the game now stand? Near completion. I won't post a percentage, a date or anything else that will come back and haunt me. The game will be released when it is done and as bug-free as possible. We have released six versions of Title Bout; one was ridiculously buggy (APBA) and not our fault - it was released in spite of our insistence that it wasn't ready; the other one that was flawed was Title Fight 2001. And once it was patched, it was both extremely playable and enjoyable. However, we rushed it. It was our fault completely and we've admitted it. That is why, in spite of the harshness of some of the participants on this board, we refuse to make that mistake again. Everyone who has supported us (actually, even those who haven't) deserve a game that is as near perfect as possible. We plan on giving you that. 4. The play-testers continue to fine a few minor problems but on the whole, there is virtually no feedback coming because they haven't found any problems that havent' been fixed. A new beta-version, with many added features was sent out the other day and it will soon have undergone a thorough testing. That version is 95% of the product that will be released. 5. Another feature that will add NO DELAY to the release of Title Bout Championship Boxing but will add more interaction is a new Between Rounds/In the Corner feature. A more complete explanation of this, with examples, will be forthcoming. 6. One poster ask for a list of features and I have failed to put it together but I will attempt to have a concise list posted within a few days. I realize there isn't much new or exciting in this update; however, that's because there is nothing else to tell you. The game is being finished. Those of you who have followed this long and tedious process already know what is to come. I will continue to try to post as often as possible and you will know the minute that I do when something major occurs. Thank all of you who continue to support this project. I hope when it is finally in your hands, we've rewarded you with a good game. For those we have angered, upset, frustrated and disappointed, I'm sorry we have failed you. |

Adding several last notes:
a) We have a complete list of everyone who ordered Title Fight 2001 based upon the promise that doing so would qualify you for a free new game. All of you will definitely receive instructions on how to download the new product immediately upon it's release. b) There will still be options to buy the simulation separately, or the simulation in conjunction with the quiz game (at a reduced price). c) I have requested new screens be posted. Why they haven't been, I don't know. I will issue the request again. |

I have put Mitchum on my ignore list and I won't read his comment. From the reaction of others, it seems like more of the same - mindless nastiness.
How childish. I encourage the rest of you to put Mitchum on your ignore lists too. That's the only way to deal with someone like him. |

Thanks for the update. I just recently purchased Title Fight 2001, and even knowing the new game will be out soon, it was definitly worth the money paid. My most recent round of battles saw Juan Carlos Gomez upset Hasim Rahman for the WBA Title. I'm also about to recreate the battle between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson for the WBC and IBO titles.

Okay, let's see if I can cover this - to begin with, yes, all the heavyweights that you named are in the game with the exception of Tann. Both Roy Jones and James Toney are rated in two divisions each: Jones in the hw and lhw; Toney in the hw and cw.
The other heavies are there as well as Guinn, Mesi, etc. All the young guns have been included. I am asking the programmer to release a file containing a list of ALL fighters in both the archive and active databases, hopefully, within a few days. |

I for one am glad you have control of this board and that you are deleting certain threads. I'd hate to see it go the way of the Title Bout board. I quit visiting that board long before you shut it down. I have been critical of the delays, but personal attacks are uncalled for. Like saying something about personal avatars, it's just childish behavior from children typing on mom and dad's computer.

I am totally against answering to those flame and blame posts like those which we sometime have to read here on our message board... I will do it this one time only, and then never again.
I just cannot understand why those guys are so crazy and why they are getting so personal. If they wouldn't be anonymous here on the web, they would certainly never talk this way.... Anyway, nobody has the right to call anybody a Nazi and such stuff. And I will just delete those posts, and threads, and ban such guys, whenever I want too. It's not my fault. I don't need to have a guilty conscience (well, actually I do, but I know that I don't have too). In "real life", face to face, nobody would talk the way that some guys are doing here on the web... Well, if they do it here they DO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. It's their fault. And we are not Nazis or something if we delete those posts and ban those guys IMO. I'm just happy that 99.9% of the members just want to talk sports, and just want to play OOTP, TF and (later) TB! It's a shame that these guys and gals have to see those flame posts... Well, they will understand that we delete it. Nobody wants to see this stuff. |

Andreas and Jim,
Block that clown out. No reason to call anyone a Nazi (including George W.). We're all eager for the game. I don't know why any moron would think you'd want to delay money coming into your company by design. If you come out with that list of fighters, it would occupy everyone for awhile. Some of us would start researching some of the names we're not familiar with and maybe the conversation on the board could be turned towards that, making the time go by faster. That would perhaps cut down on the negativity on the board. Patiently waiting. Gus

erickdamac, now that the DM v Roy Jones debate is over. I wonder what would have happened if Roy Jones had a fight with Joe Calzaghe. Joe has quick hands, good skills, good knockout record and a good chin. It would definitely make a interesting contest, but it looks like it will never happen.
It also looks like we won't be able to recreate this fight on TBCB. Will it be possible to make Joe Calzaghe go up a division to lhw so he can challenge Roy Jones on TBCB? |

Roy Jones will be rated as both a light-heavy and a heavyweight. Calzaghe is, of course, rated at super-middleweight. You will be able to move Calzaghe up to lhw and choose whether or not to have the move up in weight affect him.

Top 5? Hmm - let's see: Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Gene Tunney, Bob Foster, Harold Johnson, Michael Spinks, Harry Greb - yes, I guess he fits in there somewhere. He's definitely a Top Ten All-time Great. I'm just not sure if he could out-box the incredibly talented Harold Johnson - but he could probably knock him out if he wanted to go for it. I'm not sure that he would risk Bob Foster's power - but he could probably outbox him rather easily. I'm not sure that he could handle the relentless pressure of Harry Greb - but he could outbox him as well. Jones, for all his undeniable ability, still remains a bit of an enigma.

Jim - Jones has got to be tough to rate. He has great power, but uses it sparingly. He has great boxing ability, though he doesn't depend on his jab, like most great boxers. He doesn't throw punches in bunches, but he rarely misses. He's not aggressive, but when he wants to he can put anyone away.
I agree, he's an enigma. |
