Year added to contract...

I just advanced to another season in my league and for some reason its added a year to everyones contract in the league. I'm in season 2008 now and there are no FA's even though I know that there were supposed to be a bunch. I'm running patch 5.14b so I'm wondering if thats whats caused my problem, if someone could please help that would be great, this is a huge problem!

financials are turned off

Contracts mean nothing if finances are off, the only way players change teams is if released or traded. No free agency.
