I have run across this problem before and after 5.13 patch. I will sim a season, usually doing it a week or a month at a time. At the end of the season I'll have a pitcher with a ridiculously low ERA, 0.50. When checking his stats the earned runs were somehow saved to the previous year, but not all.
I had saved the previous year by copying the league directory. I blew away current league with the bad stats and restored the old league, resimmed the year and the same thing happened for the same player. This is using historical players starting at 1901 and the error occurred in the 1904 season. |

If this is with a historical season the low ERA it is tied to the "255 rollover" issue. Though I've never heard of the stats going into the next season.

I didn't save the league and the stats are a little foggy as I didn't take a good look at them. From what you are I can guess what happened. This pticher is a starting pitcher and not a very good one. I have it set to 3 man rotations. In the 1903 season The RA were less then the ER because RA rolled over at 255, he had 211 ER. In 1904 both RA and ER rolled over, he had 8 ER. When I looked at the data it seemed that the ER for 1904 were adding up in 1903 because of how the data looked, but now I know better.
This begs the question, is this going to be fixed though a patch? I am assuming that the database is set to only handle 1 byte numbers for certain stats and to change it to a 2 byte integer would require a conversion of the databases for any onyone applying the patch. This would cause any program that reads the database to fail be cause of the change in the data structure (exporter5). Any other suggestions other than going to a 4 man rotation? |
