What this game (OOTP6?) needs ...
Is a customizable set of stats/ratings to be shown. Rather than the preset (Batter Stats 1, etc.), I would love to be able to pick AVG, vLAVG, vRAVG, HR, OBP, vLOBP, vROBP and SB on one page if I felt like it.
Also, the option to toggle between current season and career stats would be ideal. Finally, there should also be the same for the entire league. For instance, if I want to see who are the losingest pitchers this year, I could quickly make that one of the stat columns to be shown for all leage P's and then sort by it. Similarly, if I wanted to see biuggest career losers, this would allow to me to switch to CAREER stats and then see who has lost the most. It would allow us all to have much easier access to all the information OOTP makes available, which I feel is sometimes hidden away (like when you're trying to set lineups but can't at a glance see how each of your hitters has performed in the last month). For those FPS fans, yes, this would be exactly what FPS used to do, which was very useful. The data is all there already, so it's just a matter of making it more available . |

I'm opposed to this. Casey Stengel didn't have anything like this, so neither do I.

On the contrary, any manager always has someone running the numbers for him, so he need only look at a piece of paper. I'm sure Casey had the vsLHP/RHP info in front of him. Therefore, we need it for this game if we are to rival Mr. Stengel.

If we could simulate LaRussa's career, we would need maximum wear stats on young pitchers' arms, and then the last few fields could be filled with the numbers of the local surgeons.

But back to the subject at hand ....
DLove's suggestion is excellent. As an old FPS player I loved the ability to sort stats of various kinds. HH2001-02 let you do pretty much the same thing. Stats were sortable in and by different categories. I think access to sortable stats of all kinds is one of the things most of us want. I'd only add to his suggestion that I'd love to be able to sort team stats the same way, e.g., so I could see how Minnesota's pitching staff as a whole fares against left-handers and easily compare it to how both KC's staff and Cleveland's staff do versus lefthanded batters, too. Who is best in a given category in all of MLB, in the AL only, or in the Central Division only, etc. Sortable team-by-team stats would be a nice addition (as DLove said, a la FPS and the old HH format). |
