Thumbs down Unbelievable...

..that to read normal interesting post you have to browse through 337892 posts about cheating, cheaters, etc.

It seriously is reducing my appetite to browse these forums. Every second word used these days is cheating... Ignoring is the best way

It does portray a bad image to anyone new to these forums.

Perhaps we ought to have a special cheaters forum ~ then they can advertise their own leagues there. Actually that might be fun to watch - all 24 owners trying to cheat each other !

It portray's a bad image to some long time members of the forums as well.

I've been a regular at the various OOTP Forums since version 2 and quite frankly my time spent here the last few weeks has dropped drastically. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and in my opinion some of the stuff going on here lately is distastefull and immature. It's one thing to make a point, it's quite another to elaborate it to death. Again, this is just my opinion, and from current indications, is quite likely in the minority.

A seperate forum for cheater reporting and cheating method discussion is indeed a very good idea. That would at least solve part of Matteo's problems.

I think Bruce said it best although he left out probably a VERY important aspect: What about potential OOTP5 buyers that just somehow ran across the game and are checking out the forums among other things as they determine whether or not they should buy the game? I don't know about anybody else, but if I saw this crap while browsing the forums as a potential buyer it'd seriously lower my opinion of the entire game itself. This game isn't Warcraft or Diablo where 15 year olds acting like morons should be prevalent. It's a baseball simulation game that markets itself to a different type of person then that.

Then again, it is an internet forum... which is the ONLY place you'll ever see such immaturity. Cause I'm sure most people here realize if this type of garbage was face to face then there'd be a lot of people eventually getting the crap kicked out of them.

A message to Steve Kuffrey, Henry, Markus, and others monitoring the boards that are affiliated with the game: I seriously would recommend putting an end to all the garbage on the forums. Because all it's doing to you guys is hurting the image of your very own product.

That's true...the mods here are very laissez-faire. There are members of the community who try to nip immature name-calling and what have you, but perhaps a stepped up presence or a "smack down" is needed. Not trying to hate on the mods, because you guys do a great job of helping people when help is requested.

You honestly believe this? If I'm buying a game off the net, I couldn't care less how Joe Blow in Arkansas acts on their message board, I care about how the game performs, period. End of story. YMMV

Personally, I'd d/l the demo and play that, if I felt like participating on the board, I would, though it would have no effect on whether I pulled out my cc or not. I've played many games over the years and this is the only board I participate in.

Many of us have asked Steve repeatedly for more stringent modding and it's just not going to happen.

Please direct me to any such post not dealing with the Fit Dog, Horns Maniac, Kevin, or any other known cheat.

It's not like every commish gets dogpiled in here, just the ones who deserve it. Although, the MFit bashing may, and I stress MAY, be over the top a wee bit.

My statement obviously reflects my perception, it was merely to warn that these kind of discussions make the forums less attractive to me.

I know there are respected owners in my league (like Bruce), that have the same opinion, and it would be a pitty if people stop using these forums because they are not getting out of it what they want.

I am not here to judge people, nor do I insist the mods stepping in. I don't believe in any kind of "forum police" or cheaters forum anyway. Any discussion on this topic is contra-productive anyway, it doesn't solve the problem.

Hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions/perceptions right?

I can see where you're coming from, but as a new guy to the game, I'd be more upset by a cheating commish then by someone informing me in advance that someone has a shady past with running a league I may want to join.

If people aren't getting what they want from here, I agree that's a shame. However, I also believe that these "incidents" are the exception rather then the norm.

I respect your pov, I just don't necessarily agree with it. Other then Mfit, I can't think of another flame type thread in here for a long time but we'll agree to disagree.

Regards

Rich

Whether or not there is a new Cheating forum, someone should be trimming these flame posts and putting them somewhere else. Some of us are here to read and write about OotP online leagues.

...or just have a sticky at the top of this forum that says in big, bold letters: MFITTERER IS A CHEATER! CAVEAT EMPTOR! That way, we won't have sixty flame threads, each thread flaming the same ignorant bastard.

I agree completely with SoxWin on this.

Mfitterer1's problems these days are no longer about cheating, but trolling. Some people's enthusiasm on taunting/teasing him also didn't help.

Isn't it just the norm of all prosperous forums?
