Are you playing an MLB, historical or fictional league tim?

Good luck, you'll love it!

Tim, just remember that when you tweak your league settings, increasing the number of hits will REDUCE the batting averages.

Reducing the walk value will INCREASE the number of walks given up in your league.

And write down all your settings, so you can refer back to them. Track the league averages carefully, until you get them where you want.

Historically, a batting average of around .262 works well, with OBP in the low .330's

You will have a blast doing a historical league. I started mine in 1901 and am now in the 1960's. It has been the most enjoyable experience I've ever had with a game and I've been gaming for 16 years.

I've used all the correct stadiums, cities and team names along the way. Someone on this site created stadiums for each team from what seemed like the beginning of time. I highly recommend you download that. I also used a modified DB instead of Lahman's DB. That has worked out rather well. I just finished my first two years of expansion ('61 and '62 I think) and that went pretty smooth, but took a lot of work to pull off an expansion draft. So far though, that has been the only work involved.

I did my historical league with an amatuer draft each year with me running the Boston (now Milwaukee) Braves. I think my next historical league will be an attempt to simulate real life as much as possible.

Good luck and I hope you have as much fun with this as I have.

JC

Nobody asked who the resident schedule fetishist was.
