OOTPB Staff: Why no Graphics or Logos Forum?
Why does OOTPB not set up a Graphics or Logos Forum.
I can understand why the Mods Forum doesn't want it filled with logo requests, but the logos were very popular, entertaining and a great addition to the game for the OOTPB Community. Many people have asked for a Mods Forum and a Graphics Forum. That way the Mods wouldn't have to go through endless logo requests on their forum...and the logos designers like Shub, dbacks, T. C. Dale, Markmeister, knuckler, Cuss16 and others could easily and quickly check the Graphics Forum. For the sake of continuity, OOTPB should want to host forums for all things important and useful to the game. If we lost Cuss' Graphics...if we lose OOTPLinks.com...and we might. We have suffered two great losses. Too often the non-OOTPB sites are here today and gone tomorrow. I have asked on several other threads for the OOTPB Staff to comment on this problem. couriers and others have also asked for your comments. Here is a simple solution: I would suggest that you take the "OOTPB Forum for older versions" and change it to the Graphics Forum. In my opinion that forum is little used and of little interest. Once a new version comes out, we forget about the old version. If someone has an older version, they could always post in the OOTPB Comments and Feedback Forum. Just take the version number off and list OOTPB. Maybe all of the great logo designers would come back if OOTPB organized the Mods Forum in a way that most of the Mods and Graphics enthusiasts would be happy with. I think my suggestion would accomplish this end. Henry?...Steve?....Someone please respond. Some of us would like to know your side of the question. I don't think this is a problem. If anything, just make a sub-forum called "graphics" under the mods forum.

I agree, this would seemingly be a simple solution.
However, it is a problem because logos requests are not filled as often as they were 2 months ago. The logos designers wanted a graphics forum to make it easy for them to see what was needed without sifting through other threads that didn't interest them. Some of them are not interested in all aspects of the game like us, they just want to help out and expand their artistic skills (Shub, one of the best logo designers, stated this in an earlier thread). So, a separate graphics forum was set up by Cuss16, who is to be commended for his efforts, but it is not part of OOTPB, where it should be. If OOTPB had split Mods and Graphics 2 months ago, almost everyone would have been pleased and we would not be discussing it now. Last edited by Eugene Church; 09-16-2003 at 10:04 PM. |

I think it's because graphics is not a big part of the game and that more sub forums will just confuse newbies even more about where to post. Just my take on the situation.

Thing is though is that newbies aren't going to know to go over to your forum either.

Cuss16, I think you are right. Graphics are a very nice addition to the game, but are very low priority for OOTPB developers. The logos that come in the game are not very well done and more and better stadium backgrounds would be nice. Wouldn't you love for the game to include Teflon Skies stadiums (given the rights, of course)? I can understand they can't have real MLB logos or even create their own MLB logos... or use real stadiums...because of licensing rights. But fictional stadiums would be ok, I think.

I'm with you all the way Eugene. A Graphics sub-Forum would be well received and is long overdue in my opinion.

I ussually get pounded for my two cents but here it goes anyway. I like the idea of a graphics forum. I was very pleased with my OOTP game when I first got it but now that I have become better with my computer and am profficient with logos, stadiums and rosters It's like a new game. It really changes the complexities of the game. Let the poundings begin.

The problem is with making a subforum is that these things go in spurts. We have a bunch in a matter of days, then nothing for a very long time. I have spoken to the creators about this at length, and even started a sub thread for folks to post their needs and wants, but no one followed it.
I would say if no one would try to use what was started and just posted haphazardly anyplace they wanted instead, that would not make Steve Kuffrey want to start another subforum if you can't follow the lead of others trying to organize the requests and results. Ran and Cuss16 have some good sites that will help you out with requests. If you need to, look for the thread I started where people should have posted to get their info and requests started.. that would be a good start now wouldn't it?

Okay, guys, here's the deal. Last night, cuss, Shub, and myself had a chat, and came up with only one suggestion. That would be to create a new forum entitled "Logo Showoffs," or something similar to that. Now, the requests would start over at cuss's graphics forum (first link in my sig), and the finished logo would be posted in this section. That way, people can view the logos we design without having to see the Mods forum being flooded with requests. But, apparently, Steve did not like the idea. So, unless Steve changes his mind, everything will continue to be like it has been for the last two months when cuss16 started his graphics forum.

As it was pointed out a couple of months ago, this forum has become boring without the requests and very slow. On top of that, regardless of Cuss's good intentions his site has not solved the problem but has only helped to minimize the community here by separating us between boards. Many of us don’t have the time and effort to add more and more boards to our list of sites to visit and this subforum has become more and more pointless in regards to graphics. This game has graphics and there is no way to deny that. To ignore the customers requests to increase the focus on third party graphical add-ons is shallow. Especially when all it would take would be the involvement of 10 minutes to add a new subforum, which could handle all requests and postings for graphics in one easy to find location. Time to step up to the plate and do the right thing. BTW, this shouldn't be left up to people like cuss, dbacks and shub to decide the fate of how OOTP handles their customers needs and desires. This should be a decision that we all help to shape and one that needs to be made by those in charge of the board. |

Also, this forum used to be really active and one of the most exciting features of this board. The front page was always full of new threads for any given day from top to bottom and well into the second as well as the third page deep.
Now: 09-17-03 (8 threads) 09-16-03 (6 threads) 09-15-03 (3 threads) 09-14-03 (6 threads) 09-13-03 (2 threads) This was unheard of not too long ago. |

This game has graphics? yes,
One of the main freatures of OOTP5? No Steve has already said that there will not be a sub forum. And i don't blame ootp at all for making that decision. Why should graphics get one more forum but not cato, or bosi or any other databases. It just makes no sence that a minor part of the game is taking over the more space than anything else. My forum is built for people with a common hobby, graphics stuff. If you want to come and see how it goes, feel free. It is in no way affliated with ootp. I mean we have puresim, mogul and even football players there too, again, with a common interest of sport graphics, not ootp. |

Once again this is in no way affliated with ootp. It's a sports graphics hobby forum. You need a logo, go there, post it, and check back in a while. We do not work for anyone, we are not representing ootp. We are doing this because we like doing it. And we would like a place where the request are more organized. That's all, as simple as that. A hobby forum, not a ootp graphics forum.

It’s great that people like yourself are willing to organize a chat on the issue and to create a separate forum board just to help resolve some of the problems but the truth is that you shouldn’t have to. That is all I meant. |
