Can the intangible ratings (clutch, consistency, etc) change over time or are they permenent?
Also, who is preferable: 29 year old closer who is great clutch and normal consistency ratings: AR: 10 AH: 7 Brilliant AD: 4 Average AHR: 7 Average ABB: 7 Good SO: 8 Good or 23 year old closer who is "suffers" clutch and very inconsistent who has strong need to play for winner AR:10 AH:9 Brilliant AD:4 Average AHR:6 Average ABB:6 Average SO:9 Brilliant |

To my knowledge they do not change over time.
IMO the effects are fairly small and I'd go for the 23 year old closer. Depending on the amount it costs to sign him and the amount of time you can lock him up for. Both Closers should be very good. [ 05-31-2002, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: ScottVib ] |

Having a closer that suffers during clutch situations would scare me. I want a guy who steps up during the ninth with the bases juiced to get that crucial strikeout. I'm sure Scott is right but I would be really scared in the postseason...
