Recently the GBC Tres Governing Board decided to take the league in a different direction and left the Consortium. We wish them well in their future endeavors as the WWBL.
The GBC will, however, have an OOTP league which I will run. For those of you who have been in the GBC (especially when I was actually running day to day operations) you know that means there will be extreme attention to detail, deadlines will always be met, and we will ensure that it is the most active and intense league around. As far as format, I haven't quite decided. I have had an offer from Mark Cooley (commish of Glory Days Baseball and Heritage Baseball League, webmaster of HistoricallyOOTP and OOTPLinks.com) to work with him to start a fictional league set in the 1950's/60's that is set in the Western half of the country. This league will have about 16 teams. He doesn't want financials or free agency to be involved. I haven't quite decided if this is the way to go. Another option that has been mentioned by Jeff Smith is starting a new fictional league, simming five seasons to get a player history, and then putting all the players into a draft pool. One thing I am sure of is that we will disable the coaches feature, and set all scouts to average. Whomever is interested in getting involved, please let me know. Also know if you have a preference of venues. I know some of you have already emailed me saying you would like to be involved in the new GBC league either way. Just re-affirm that interest via email in light of the new changes. Thanks! Matthew M.
