Baseball Relief Trivia
1. Who are the only two relief pitchers to have 30+ saves and 100+ strikeouts in back-to back seasons?
Eric Gagne (woody5254) and Trevor Hoffman (The Prof) 2. Who was the first left-handed reliever to save 300 games? John Franco (draven085) 3. Name the relief pitcher who was the last World War II vet to play in the majors. Hoyt Wilhelm (The Professor) 4. Who was the second pitcher in MLB history to appear in 1000 games? Kent Tekulve (The Prof) 5. Who was the Giants reliever who broke Christy Mathewson’s team record for games pitched? Gary Lavelle (Gastric) 6. In 1999, what relief pitcher ended a string of 552 straight relief appearances when he started for the first time in his career? If you don't know, feel free to guess. Try to do so without looking them up! Last edited by LivnLegend; 08-28-2003 at 03:28 PM. |

Franco is correct for number 1! Nice job Marioh.
Wagner is a great guess. He never did it back to back seasons, however. Orosco is a poor guess, seeing as he was not even born until well after WWII but I see the humor angle working for you. |

#1 -- How about Eric Gagne and...Tom Henke? Gagne strikes out everybody and Henke was pretty rough stuff back in the day.
