Franco is correct for number 1! Nice job Marioh.
Wagner is a great guess. He never did it back to back seasons, however.
Orosco is a poor guess, seeing as he was not even born until well after WWII but I see the humor angle working for you.

#3 -- wild guess: Hoyt Wilhelm? He debuted in what, 1951? Not likely but possible.

Good guess. Eckersly was either 4th or 5th to 1000 games. He and Lee Smith did it that same year, not sure who got there first.

Nailed it! Wilhelm debuted at age 28. He had served in the war after pitching one season in the minors. He won the Purple Heart for heroic duty during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from baseball in 1972

#1 -- How about Eric Gagne and...Tom Henke? Gagne strikes out everybody and Henke was pretty rough stuff back in the day.

Sutter and Goose each did it twice in their career but not in consecutive seasons.

Gossage, Eckersly, and Orosco have all been guessed for #4. None are correct. Keep trying!
