Hatty and the A's
What is up with Scott Hatteberg, he's hitting more like a catcher than a first baseman/DH?
Will the A's continue their recent tradition of second half greatness and take the AL West? For someone who grew up reading Bill James stuff, it's easy to root for the A's, Jays and Red Sox. I just finished reading Moneyball. I'll be keeping tabs on the group of players the A's selected in the 2002 draft. |

I think the A's can do it.

Scott Hatteberg just got his fat and last contract of the career. He'll tank from now on, and spend all his time thinking about new quotes for Lewis' next book.

The A's offense is positively 80sriffic. Most of their players can't even manage a .350 OBP. My new thinking is that Billy Beane plays OOTP and has found that 5 great starters is the most effective way to get a high season score.

But Hatteburg is still very patient and will work a pitcher.

IF Hatteburg were still playing catcher his offense wouldnt be that bad, but he's not. I cant believe someone as smart as Beane gave that kinda contract to Hatteburg. Maybe Beane is just good at finding pitchers and horable at finding hitters.

I am in the process of reading Moneyball, too. I like it so far. I think I am on page 94 or so.

If Hatty were a shortstop, his value would skyrocket. Give up Tejada and stick Scott over there.
