loyalty to fan favorites
I just discovered how to use the Lahman database and lovin it. However, I am finding it difficult to let go of my preconceived notions about certain players real life abilities. This will take some time to adjust to. I did a search on the subject and found that the game is not 100% true to players real life ability which makes the game more challenging. At the moment I find it a little difficult to release or trade real life team icons who are bad or average. Has anyone else found this to be a difficult hurdle? Overall it is fun to see my personal favorites who may not have been superstars get 3000 hits (Buddy Bell).

I feel the same way.
I still have not gotten over that hurdle and now play primarily in fictional leagues which is MUCH more enjoyable in my opinion. Historical leagues such as UBL can be very fun as well.

I only do historical replays in distant god mode now. For day-to-day gritty stuff, it's got to be fictional.

I also have this problem with historical leagues and rarely go outside the fictional realm anymore.

I end up finding the fictional players more involving and fun to follow because they don't have that, "But that's not what he did in real life."
Henry Zoll, The Barbarian is my current favorite fictional player. 42 win shares last season. |
