Post The Grand Ole Game League needs owners

<img src="http://www.legendsport.com/images/goglogo.jpg" alt="" />

124 years ago Tuesday, the poem "Casey at the Bat" debuted. The Grand Ole Game league was inspired by the era of baseball depicted in "Casey." It will allow us to put joy into our own Mudville nine.

This league will tie together the aspects of the other sim leagues I run in one package designed to allow us to have the most amount of enjoyment. I've listed the pertinent facts below:

1) Played in career mode with all options turned on - player development will be directed by you, with players' potential ratings being set by their actual careers.

2) Combines elements of fictional leagues (like stadium building, franchise relocation) with historical leagues (real players).

3) Players will "debut" in GOG two seasons before their actual rookie season. They can then develop in your minor leagues. Their ratings are depressed a bit for their debut season because they are appearing early, but their potential ratings are based on their actual careers.

4) Fielding ratings are based on the entire career of the players - this is because OOTP4 uses the first season on import which can skew the abilities of the players. Players are also rated only at the positions they played in their rookie seasons, so you'll need to teach players new positions if you wish them to play there.

5) Improve, renovate, and build new ballparks
Relocate your team to a better market - it's even possible to switch leagues (you'd need agreement from someone in the other league to jump into your spot - plus unanimous approval of the other GMs)

6) Divisional play to get more teams in the playoffs (two four team divisions in each league)
For those with a historical knowledge of 19th century base ball (it was two words back then), all the greats are here - Brouthers, Kelly, Anson, Comiskey, King, Rusie, and of course, Cy Young. For those who don't know much about 19th century base ball, this is an opportunity to learn. At the very least you can treat it as a fictional league since you don't know those guys either.

7) I've deflated the finances in the league - the lowest salary is $25,000 - with the league average around $150,000 (still much higher than actual salaries in the 1880s, but since OOTP4 doesn't allow ticket prices to be fractions of a dollar, this was the only way to get as close as possible).

8) Quick play seasons - we will play 1 month of season time per week of real-time. Games will be simmed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - on a 7-day, 8-day rotation (for 30 days per week - 31 day months will have the extra day tacked on to the last sim). This means we turn around a season, including playoffs & off-season moves, in approximately 8 weeks.

9) Hall-of-Fame will include GMs. Try to earn your way into the Hall.
If you're interested in checking out the GOG, please <a href="http://www.legendsport.com/baseball/gog.shtml" target="_blank">check out the league's website</a> (still under construction, but the major elements are all there).

Thank you for your time. If you have any questions or want to be a part of the league, please email me at: commish@legendsport.com

A current list of teams available can be found on the owners page on the GOG website.
