GMC is Looking for One Owner
The Global Managers Challange - GMC - has a vacancy and is looking for a solid, dedicated owners.
The Oil Town Rig Pigs are available. Oil Town - Kurtis Reynolds' old team (he had to step down because of work), boats the best minors system around, with a young Manny Ramirez, Dean Palmer, Mike Piazza, Moises Alou and Albert Belle ready to take over and dominate the International League. This is a club that would be perfect for an owner with a long-term vision. Ideally, an OOTP vet would slide into the owner's seat and give the team long-term viability. The Team History Page can be accessed here. The GMC is one of the toughest around, with some of the best and brightest owners going (Wedge, Wolicki, Fulling, Bernstein, Jordan, Mann, Miskowski, Vandevisse, Fuerst, Grassi to name just a few). It is also one of the best leagues in terms of participation, usually topping the 90% participation level sim in and sim out, season after season. In terms of competition, there are a few dynasties around - Unionville (always folds in the playoffs - damn karma thing), Moscow (aging), Alaska and Birmingham (both looking very old), and eight (8) teams have won titles in the league's eleven (11) years. We are just completing our 12th season (one of the oldest OOTP leagues around), and the league was originally started by legendary co-Commissioners Joe Ramsey and Eric Wedge, who wanted a league where they can revisit their youth and watch all their 1980s childhood baseball stars come alive again. The league started with the 1983 season and an initial 25-round draft. Franchises were split into North American and International (DH) leagues, and owners were allowed to name the franchises and mould the stadium to their liking. Dean Gordon took over as Commish for the 1988 season, and the league updraded to OOTP v5 for the 1993 campaign. As a commish I am a firm believer in participation, as teams that win are invariably those whose owners give a damn and do whats necessary to either get their team to the top or keep it there. As such, for each sim, I require at least an email saying "no changes". This lets me know that at least the owner took a look at his team between sims. I am an active owner in the league (Unionville Canadians) and have been since the beginning. My team is now a regular season powerhouse, thanks to some crafty trading, but the Gordon Curse always, without fail, cripples me come playoff time, almost comically finding ways to lose when it matters most (that damn karma thing). If anyone is interested in either team please check out the league site, the rules, and then get back to me. When sending me an email, let me know your OOTP experience, any leagues you have been in or are currently in (URLs included - I prefer to get recommendations from other Commishes or owners I know in leagues an applicant is in, in order to avoid constant team turnover). Cheers, Dean Gordon Commish - GMC, EBL, NABL |

![]() this is where the Karma Curse hits in the playoffs.... best regular-season team gets killed in the playoffs in the GMC.... the wins come courtesy of having the sweetest left-handed porch in the league.... should be my last good season though, as my team has a wild bunch of aging stars - trammell, teufel, boggs, raines, henderson - 5 starters gone right there.... the plethora of gordons come from the ability to rename a minor leaguer who is not historically significant (cant rename albert belle, for example)... |

I can't believe no one has taken this team. Yes.. this is my old team.. I would still be in Dean's GMC if I could.... I just do not have time right now.
Oil Town's minor system is full of top prospects. (Best in the league). This team does not have the best of records.. but it will in a short time.. as soon as these youngsters develope a bit more. Kurtis
