Can I add a team like the 1971 Pirates?

Haven't bought the game yet but it looks very interesting. Was wondering if it was posible to add this team and all it's original players and have them play in a league with the current NL teams?

Thanks!!

sure can, you can import individual players from any point in history or entire teams too.

Buy it, you won't be disappointed

Pirate, you want this game. There's nothing like it. Some say it's better than s_x!

Thanks! I'm ready to order. I've downloaded the manual and see the patches. Is the latest patch all I need or do I need the other patches to? Anything else I need to get? Any tips would be appreciated from you guys who learned the hard way like I usually do. Thank You!!

Search on these boards for what is known as Lahman's Database 5.0 , it is free.

You will need this (bunch of csv files) in a folder on your hard drive. When you go to import a team, it will ask for the path to the csv files.

I doubt you'll have much luck with the search function, so just click on this link to download the Database.

Once you have downloaded this file you have to unzip it using winzip, or a similar unzipping program. Unzip all the files contained in the .zip file to any folder you want, as long as it's not the main OOTP5 folder, and you can remember the exact path to the folder (i.e. C:\STATS). Then you will be ready to import the 1971 Pirates, or any historical team you want.

To add to that - if you want to import the '71 Pirates , and have them playing against the 2003 ML teams, you'll need to download another file.

Go to www.rosterdevelopmentgroup.com, and then you can download 2003 rosters with real teams, players, etc.

Check the FAQ forum, and you'll find a quick explanation as to how to install your roster set.

You only need to download the current, 5.12, patch.

Downloaded the Lahmans Database but I don't have Access. Will have to see if I can find a copy. That last link doesn't seem to work for me. Thank you guys very much. I'm going to have to start slow. This looks like it can be overwhelming but a great deal of fun. Thanks!!

The link for the roster development site didn't work because there is a comma at the end. You need to delete that.

There are two versions of the Lahmans db, one is the Access version, you need the other csv version or comma delimited file version. Give that a try, then let us know how it goes.

I gave the link to the comma delimited file in my first post.

There's no WAY this game is as good as Steve Sax.

"Okay, Pedro," Lasorda said, "the tying run's on, one out in the ninth. What are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking, don't hit the ball to me," Guerrero said.

"C'mon, Pete," Lasorda chided, "what else are you thinking?"

"You really want to know?"

"Yes."

"I'm thinking," Guerrero said, "don't hit the ball to Sax either."

I've had trouble with the database, with my version 4.0, but finally got it to work.

I'm thinking about getting OOTP5 soon. Is it a lot better than OOTP4?
