League Idea-Careers Shortened

Had this brilliant (well maybe not) thought for a new league today, made up completely of players who had career shortened by injuries, etc. Not sure if there will be enough players but figured could go with 6 teams so would need enough to fill them out, say minimum 150 players....

But where to find out?

Ones that immediately come to mind are Tony C., Mark Fydrych, Chapman (the guy who got beaned and died).

Any ideas/thughts/links appreciated

Obvious ones: Koufax, Darryl Kile, Smokey Joe Wood (injury caused him to go from great pitcher to bad outfielder), Thurman Munson, Kirby Puckett.

I'll post again if if I think of some more.

Tim Crews, Joe Jackson, Roberto Clemte (though it really wasn't too short), Steve Olin, Steve Bechler, Mike Darr, (two prospects killed recently, Garret Baxter and Mark Hilde), Eddie Cicotte and Claude "Lefty" Williams;Buck Weaver, Arnold "Chick" Gandil, Fred McMullin, and Charles "Swede" Risberg; and Oscar "Happy" Felsch. When I get to work tomorrow, I can tell you more. Some of the people died early and some were kicked out for gambling.

Joe Hauser...i think

Also if your looking at the Buck Weaver's of the world whoose careers were cut short for other reasons dont forget, Luke Easter, Satchel Paige, Monte Irvin, Jackie Robinson, Bobby Estallela Sr., because of ignorance and Ted Williams etc. because of war.

Another injury, Albert Belle. (about the same time as puckett in his career)

If you have a working method of importing players whose careers were cut short at the beginning, I'd love to hear it. Importing their first year and editing the age down doesn't work too well, in my experience, and I haven't been able to come up with any other ideas.

How about players that weren't allowed to have full careers in the majors... For example; negro league players.

sorry if I repeat any...

Mickey Mantle (knees)... Ray Fosse (all-star collision w/ Rose), although I'm not sure if his career was shortened as much as vastly diminished... Tom Browning (arm)... Dave Dravecky (horrible arm injury)... Tom Esasky (vertigo)

not sure, but did Chris Sabo hang it up due to injury?

There's a ton from the WWII era, a la Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, and many, many others
