I'm doing a "history of baseball" sim. I started in 1911, and am going straight thru. Ever few years I get some real off the wall stats. 600 k by 1 pitcher in a year, followed by 2 years later that same pitcher having 150 bb and 25 k. One season Babe Ruth has 50 hr, next 2 under 20. Anyone have some good league totals I can use for the 20's - 30's - 40's - etc.
Please help, want to make this as realistic as possible. Thanks

thanks Vida, how do u figure them out though? It confuses the hell out of me, cause raising the number = less, lowering = more...but when you have expansion and more teams, then what? ill try these out though since no expansion for awhile

Trial and error. First off, you have to back up the league or everything becomes quite tedious. Then, I enter numbers and if I like the results, I move on or I restart with different numbers. The key is to get results that YOU will be happy with. I do not use the recalculate button or IatricSB's ERA calculator, although I have tried both. Recently I have gone back to using Lee's spreadsheets. This is an excellent starting point for league totals. From there...TWEAK, TWEAK and TWEAK. Right now I am working on park effects to see how much of an influence they have on my results. I have other league totals up until the '60's but these were used with OOTP3 and they may have to be adjusted.
Here is a link for Lee's spreadsheets: <a href="http://www.sportplanet.com/sbb/files/adjustedtotals.htm" target="_blank">http://www.sportplanet.com/sbb/files/adjustedtotals.htm</a>

Just a word of warning.... Nobody else's league settings will necessarily work for your own. Even if you are both simming the same year, you will have a different mixture of ratings depending on how the players have aged. For example, if you were to create a league starting in 1911 and sim 1911, your players will be quite different than if you start in 1904, sim up to 1911, and then sim the 1911 season. The player development, injuries, and retirements will always be different, so you're always working with apples and oranges.
