Logo threads too messy!?

I came up with kinda a solution, I set up a forum for my up and coming modified site. And you can post up requests there for logos and other graphical stuff for your league. So we wont mess up the forum here and can keep it more organized. One thing about the my forum is you wont be able to show the logos you made without a paid server, however what we can do is to post your requests there, get notified when it's done and graphics get posted here in TC' organized threads.

This might or might not work. I invite all the graphics mod makers to apply for moderators of this new forum. Obviously I cant have everyone be the moderator, so I'll have to make some decisions as to see how many applies. Anyways let me hear some suggestions.

And oh yeah this is not going to be a mod sharing site, only a site featurering my logos. But the forum will be for everyone requesting for graphics.

Here is the link: http://cuss.proboards20.com/index.cgi

And if it doesn't work out, it will still be a nice enough request forum for my own site.

It's a nice thought and all but why couldn't 400 studios set up a separate forum for logo requests if that is what’s causing all the commotion? There seems to be a desire for the logos to be eliminated for better organization but should this really have to fall into the hands of someone outside of the company?

I am all for more organization but the reality is that the logo forum will become just as cluttered as this one has and the only thing that will be accomplished in the end is a mod forum that is visited less often by less people.

A junk drawer is still a junk drawer no matter what you take out of it or where you place it.

I understand my logo forum will be cluttered with requests and graphics related stuff, but here's the difference, my site IS all about graphics and logos, but .400 isn't. Therefore my forum getting cluttered with logos and rewuests will be a good thing there in contrast of the being messy here since this mod forum is made for announcing released mods for the game.

So my forum wouldn't become a "junk drawer" since it's suppose to be filled with graphics and logos and requests. In fact I would prefer it to be only filled with those things.

And one other thing is this site and forum has nothing to do .400. It's practically a help central for people needing graphics. People can just post their requests and get help from guys like dbacks, shub, Markmeister, knuckler adn others if they decide to join. Poeple would be able to start threads for their own requests if they want there and they wouldn't clutter this forum, in effect, maybe cleaning up this forum.

By the way, couriers you are welcome to be a moderator if you want.

I'll only post logos that I made 100% from scratch from now on due to lack of web space.

Don't get me wrong. I fully support having a separate forum just for graphics. My concerns are with the concept of it being run off of the 400 boards. I have no problem with that except that if 400 studios is really interested in people that request and make graphics for their games then they should be willing to do what it takes to clean up the forums if that is what they want to accomplish.

Your ideas are worthy of consideration and a step in the right direction. However, 400 studios should step up to the plate and not require you to do so for them. If you were to run a separate site on top of 400 studios doing what they can to help with organization then that would be even better. That way if anything ever happened to you and your site disappeared then everything wouldn't be lost. The fact is that 400 studios is making a lot of cash off of this franchise and therefore is guaranteed to keep the forums up and running much longer than someone who is just doing it for fun.

This is the same way that I feel about sites along the lines of OOTPLinks. It is an excellent site and a great addition to the community. But 400 studios should have already had a section of their website that accomplished the same thing. We will all be back at stage one in the event that the OOTPLinks site ever goes down without having another resource to rely on for our desired organization of OOTP material.

400 studios, please come up to bat on these issues and expand your website using your vast capabilities to finally establish a modification as well as a general link directory.

Also, a graphical image gallery would be really nice as well. Someplace that members can view already completed graphics before making the 100th request for the same thing.

BTW, I haven't voted yet because I thought a discussion would help me decide more confidently.

This is my point tho, this is not a mod site or anything of the like. This is a site for myself. My own private grahics site. The forum is mine and all requests are directed to me or others if they join my forum. This is entirely private for those who like graphics. And the requests are just there to fulfill our needs to create. And in the process if the mod forum cleans up, that's great. But I did not create my site and my forum for OOTP. They are created for showcasing my designs.

Sorry if i didn't make myself clear before.

Ok. I was under the impression from the title of the poll and your first couple of sentences that you were attempting to clean up the mod forum on a whole and not just from people that are requesting your work specifically. In that case, have fun and run with it.

The problem is, that even if we did set new subfolders for the mods, people wouldn't follow the guidelines.

I have posted the settings like the mods creators asked me to, and for the most part, people do not understand plain english, or they choose not to post where they are asked to.

The instructions were simple, but some didn't feel the need to follow. Cuss has a good idea, but if folks do not want to do what is asked of them, nothing we can do.

Sorry. That is plain as I can get it.

I tried to help organize it, but people decided it wasn't a grand idea to post in a couple general areas instead of the main Mods forum.

It's a strategy to get people's attention. jk. I mainly did the forum for my own interest but ootp was parcially considered too. However the site on the other hand is entirely for my own showcase. That's why only logos designed by me are posted there.

edit - as TC posted, In my forum it wouldn't really matter where they post because as long they post under the request forum it will work. It is a graphics forum after all.

TC, the problem is that someone is not going to look for a specific thread within a forum just to see if it is ok for them to start a thread or not. Who would know to do that?

Look at the comments & feedback forum where it specifically states as the forum description to post bug reports in the appropriate forum yet people post them in there instead.

Another example is with Henry's wish list thread in the comments & feedback forum that directs people to the actual wish list thread. Yet people still post their suggestions in that thread instead.

Another example is with the wish list thread itself where it is updated to include suggestions yet people don't read it prior to making the same suggestion again that has already been added.

You cannot just direct a mass of people to the appropriate section and expect them to follow the rules. You must enforce the rules on a regular basis even if it requires holding their hands in the process.

When a thread is started in the wrong forum it should be moved. If a thread is started when it should have been included in an already existing thread then it should be moved into that thread and the member should be contracted so that they know where their posts has gone to. Eventually people will get on board to avoid any hassles and delays.

Cuss16:

I appreciate your efforts to solve the logo request problem that has cropped up on the OOTPB Mods forum.

But I really prefer "all things OOTP" as much as possible to be on the OOTPB Forums.

Nontheless, I will take part in your forum, if no decision is made on the OOTPB Mods debate.

I tried to register on your graphics requests forum and it says an error has occurred and will not sign me up.

I put my name "Eugene Church" in and got that response.
Have you banned me from your site?

Hope not.

The new name didn't work, either.

I'm using a "proper" name.

Should it be a nickname?

No... that shouldn't make any difference. What username are you trying to register with?

Neither worked.
