question of unilateral salary cap

Need a ruling: I'm using a salary cap only for my team but not for the computer controlled teams. If I release an untradeable player, would you count the cost of paying his remaining year of salary against the salary cap? To me, I'm not using him so I shouldn't be restricted by his salary but would like to hear other opinions. It's a solo league so kind of silly to agonize over it, but still just curious what you would do.

Until he gets picked up by another team, I would say count it against your cap, after he's picked up though, you won't have to pay him.
