Player salaries
I remember about a week or so ago there was a question of whether the financial problem when playing a historical league,
ie. players in 1905 wanting multi-million dollar contracts would be cleared up with this new patch. Of course i could be wrong, but if so is this cleared up ? |

No, you are seeking the "financial co-efficient". Last I heard, it may not make it into the game until OOTP6 or later- though I'm not sure if this has been confirmed.
However, I don't know if I'd consider this to be a "problem." Seems to be more of a nagging annoyance to those who sim historical leagues.

Not so much a problem. I like to see who would've made what "back in the day". My only concern is now that those World Series winners ( in my league) the 1911 Boston Braves, is that their park, which houses only 6,800 screaming fans, will be able to come up with the dough to afford their stars. So far so good as it goes. As well i've added 10,000 seats this year to try and off-set this.
Get your season tickets now fans !! |

That's what I have done. I just make, as of 1905, a 12000 seat minimum. Those who are under go up to it, those over get the advantage.
Ill also give teams some cash at the end of the year if they are way out.

Hmm, well, I really don't know much about historical leagues or the financial system, but have you tried just turning finances (and free agency) off? I'm not sure what kind of impact that would have- I guess players still have to be signed, anyway.

Yeah. That's a good idea. I never really thought of it that way. It would make more sense to turn finances off until 1975. It would be a lot better though if there would be an option to turn free-agency off and on, but still keep the financial system in place, that would be best. Then teams can still have finances, but players won't have the freedom they didn't have until 75, or whatever.
Has this come up before? Any possibility they might include the option to turn free-agency off in a future version?

Yes, I've put forward the idea a number of times now for what I call "reserve clause era" financials.
Bascially, you'd still have all your finances to handle, but there'd be no free agency. The one thing that would have to be added would be the possibility for a good player to become a "hold-out" if they don't like their current or offered contract. Since they can't move to another team, that is the only negotiating tactic they have, to say they won't play until they get a good deal. Add in the idea of independent minor leagues, and the reserve clause era could still offer lots of financial challenges. Maybe not quite as difficult as the modern era, but there'd still be lots to do. |
