O.K. I've tried the original 2003 season twice but now I am off for some history. Which historical season is the most interesting to play ?

Personally, I'd like to see 1994, or even 1981, because Cincy got screwed!

The 1961 season is kind of fun. The '27 season too maybe. Depends on what you are looking for in a season.
The 1919 season is kind of neat also because of the Sox throwing the WS. |

I am looking for something totally differant to the 2003 season. But also something for which player photos, stadiums, logos etc. are available.
Which season before WW II can you recommend me ? |

I personally am replaying FROM 1901- present and loving it. Currently in 1911 managing my beloved Tigers; easy now guys this is 1911 i can say that with pride.
It has all the old parks to play in and if you d/l Tiger fans facepacks 1901-1906 you'll get those old photo's to go along with it. Fun experience ! |

1941 was the year Williams hot .406 and DiMaggio had the streak. That was a year chock full of interesting performances.

For me I have started my season at 1970, as a kid growing up that is when I really started to follow baseball, its funny because I will see a player from that era in my league and I can still recall viewing his pictue on his Topps baseball card

Man, all these folks playing historical seasons but not playing them on the actual, historical schedules. Real players but fake schedules?!?
It's heresy I tell you! Heresy!!! (Yes, another shameless plug by myself calling for official doubleheader support and a schedule importer to be put into OOTP so that historical simmers can have their seasons played out on the real schedules, the way it ought to be done.)

Would using the real schedules not cause problems for OOTP?
It would have teams playing odd amounts of games. |

No, I don't mean using the schedules as they were played, i.e. including all the actual postponements and such, but rather the orignal schedules as they were intended to be played before the weather started messing up the plan. Teams would all play the same number of games (unless of course you wanted to add in your own postponements to shake things up).
Even without postponements, the historical schedules will mimic the historical pennant chases much more realistically than is the case when using a randomly generated schedule from the game. |
