"Seals" is a good name on paper, but that was the name of San Francisco's longtime PCL team, and I don't think Oakland would want to basically name their team after San Francisco.
I'm not from the Bay Area, though. Oakland could be fine with it, people could have completely forgotten about the San Francisco Seals, etc. "Grays" is a great name if they use the California gray whale as a secondary logo/mascot like the A's did with the white elephant. But for some reason I don't like it as much if they have a gray whale on everything--at that point just be the Whales, I guess. Last edited by textilemonster; 07-18-2026 at 04:13 PM. |

Also I believe Golden Grizzlies is the name of Oakland University's collegiate teams
