Starting Unemployed in Fictional Game
Every time I try to start a fictional game unemployed, the wizard won't let me. It won't create a game unless I choose a team. How can I get around this?

Take a job then quit as soon as league is created. I would think that should work.

You could also try starting game as the Commissioner and then once the game is started you can always leave that mode and continue observing (I think and would actually require booting up the game and verifying)

Are you selecting the Drive for the Pennant option when creating the new game? In that case, you are forced to select a team, you cannot play that mode while unemployed.

I've tried quitting but the game still has me as the manager. I also am not choosing the Driver for the Pennant option. I'm just trying to create a fictional league, but when the list of teams comes up, there is also type (not a box to check) which says start unemployed. If I click on that the game refuses to be created.
