Introducing CWhit's Cap Challenge

Hello, everyone!

Following the success of Perfect Team’s community-based Perfect Draft Challenges hosted by Laptophound and EVCInNYC2, we are pleased to announced the first such traditional tournament challenge; CWhit’s Cap Challenge. This is a multi-month, multi-format competition based around CWhit’s favorite type of tournaments; weekly caps.

Participants will be able to enter into a weekly tournament, that can qualify you for a 32-player tournament with card prizes centered around the cap theme. This qualification will be in addition to the regular PTCS qualification points that you will get from participating in that tournament.

Starting on May 7 and running through Oct. 1, CWhit’s Cap Challenge will occur every Thursday at 1pm ET (first sim at 2pm ET). The format will rotate roughly every month. We hope to have five formats before the championship in October. All formats will be cap tournaments that focus on utilizing your card collection.

The first format will be a “Heart Cap.” This will be based around the “heart” tournaments you see at the various tiers. This one will be a High Iron Floor to Low Gold Ceiling Cap using cards from 1930 to 1989. There will be a cap of 1699, a Variant Cap of nine, 2006 RE, no DH and played at Greater Nevada Field.

Qualification for Cwhit’s Cap Challenge Championship are as follows:

1. Every winner of the weekly iteration of Cwhit’s Cap Challenge - To accept the invitation as a winner, you must be an active player of the game, or accept the invitation from CWhit and OOTP. This invitation will be offered the day after the final invitational weekly tournament occurs, on October 1, and activity or acceptance must be confirmed within a week.
2. The top qualifiers on the standings for Cwhit’s Cap Challenge, using the same PTCS qualifying points involved in this tournament. This will fill the field along with the winners of the weekly tournaments.
a. Tiebreakers
i. Tiebreaker 1: Highest placement in any of the weekly events
ii. Tiebreaker 2: Most weekly events joined
iii. Tiebreaker 3: Fewest first round exits
iv. Tiebreaker 4: On Stream Coin toss

We look forward to your participation in CWhit’s Cap Challenge, and CWhit will have plenty of content on his stream regarding both data and coverage of the tournaments.

Please note: Between May 7 and Oct. 1, the tournament will occur 22 times.

i'm so so so excited for this folks! i love caps more than anything, and i've always wanted to make a series for cap lovers. i hope y'all will come along for the ride, my goal is to help make some really interesting, fun formats that are accessible to all.

Cap Challenge 2 is extended an extra two weeks due to the devs being away: Cap Challenge 3 will be starting on the 16th of July. This changes the schedule this way:

Cap Challenge 3: July 16, 23, 30, August 6
Cap Challenge 4: August 13, 20, 27, September 3
Cap Challenge 5: September 10, 17, 24, October 1.

The more I think about this ... OOTP is a PTW organization. Every added tournament bandwidth adds more players with FREE assets (dups + new cards + CS Stars)

Riddle Me This:

Why are rewards the same for Diamond, Gold and Silver Dailies? It costs me nothing to get 95%+ historic Silver+ variants for Tourneys. A good Diamond Daily team costs over 100K Pp. But the card/Clubhouse payoff is the same.

This isn't a complaint. OOTP 27 my favorite game.

Just don't understand the 'team' working PT 27. We have been told it's
"small'.

They have an incredible IP but .... it's still sitting on an old DOS engine, right? ... or am I crazy?
