I believe there is an issue with compensation eligible FA signing. The way OOTP currently functions in our league (using the QO / Later Round Picks 2017 CBA setting), is a team that loses a compensation eligible FA receives a supplemental pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds if the guaranteed value of the contract offered to the player is ~$50M or 3x the QO amount (clarification on how OOTP actually handles this now would be great). And a supplemental pick between the 2nd and 3rd rounds if the guaranteed contract is less than that amount.
St. Louis signed Mackenzie Gore to a 7yr/$280M contract with a player opt-out after year one as shown. However, Detroit only received a supplemental 2nd round pick even though St. Louis has guaranteed at least $200M. The player opt-out does not negate the guaranteed value of the contract from the standpoint of the offering club.
Thus, the guaranteed value of the contract meets the threshold for the supplemental 1st round pick, but OOTP doesn't recognize that because of the opt out.
I may be wrong about how the contract rules should function, but it would seem to me that this is a bug. Any input/clarification is helpful on both the potential bug and the actual threshold for contract values and compensation received by a team losing a compensation eligible FA.
