Fielding Stats Glitch
Not a huge issue, but definitely kind of annoying....
When you are playing out a game and you make a substitution that is going to involve shifting around some positions, the guys who enter the game are getting credited with having played the position of the player who they are taking the place of in the lineup. Example.... I have my catcher in the 8th spot of the batting order and I have my 2nd baseman in the 9th spot of the batting order. Both guys plays the first 7 innings of the game, no issues. However, in the 8th inning I pinch hit for my #8 hitter (the catcher). The guy that I brought in to pinch hit is going to remain in the game and play 3rd base..... All good so far I take the guy who was playing 3rd base originally, and shift his position to 2nd base.... All good so far I then bring a new catcher into the game and put him in the #9 hole where I previously had my 2nd baseman......When I put that new catcher into the game he initially appears as a 2nd baseman since that little drop down menu is still set to 2B. I hit the drop down menu and change it to C and then complete the game...... No problems at all with the actual game play, but here is the issue...... That guy that I brought in to the 9th spot in the order to be the new catcher has been credited with playing 2nd base in the fielding stats - both on his own page and on the team stats page. It shows as 0.0 innings played at 2B, but none the less it still shows him as having played 2B. I know it's a nit-picky thing but over the course of 162 games that leads to a handful of guys showing up as having played positions that they never actually played, just because of some mid-game defensive lineup tweaks made from time to time........ Kind of an annoyance when looking at the stats. Wonder if the devs could look into waiting until a single pitch is thrown the following half inning before crediting guys as have played a defensive position.... would definitely make the fielding stats look a lot cleaner at the end of the year. **edit - and for the record, if I hit the drop down menu to adjust the position from 2B to C before putting the new player into the game it still creates the same problem because the original 2nd baseman then gets credited with having played catcher for 0.0 innings. The work around is set the position to blank, then put the substitute in, then add the position. I get your issue, and it would a nice quality of life fix, but barring that, this is how I sub to avoid the issue you are talking about.

Didn't even cross my mind to set the position to blank first..... Yeah, I suppose that would "fix" (band-aid) the problem. I'll have to try to get myself into the habit of doing that..... Thanks!!! |
