Too many 3-HR Games

In my fictional league, I'm about 31 games/per team into my season. So far, I've had 5 players have a 3-HR game. On top of that, one of those players also had a 4-HR game. Has anyone else had anything close to that happen in your season? 3-HR games are rare, but 4-HR games are even rarer.

So, I did a test. I picked one of the scheduled games to play and a player had a 3-HR game. So, I ended the process and played the same again. Lo and behold a different player had a 3-HR game. I ended the process again and played the same scheduled game again and got no 3-HR game.

As Johnny Carson would say, that's some weird, wild stuff.

How many teams do you have? What year?

In my current season (random league using 1984 stats) after 98 games (16 teams) I have 5 players that have hit 3 HRs.

Modern day game I'd expect to be somewhere around 15 per season on average.

Check back at the end of the season so we can see if you break the record (22).

Complaints like this one (and there are other similar complaints) indicate player performance may vary more in OOTP than in real life. However AFAIK no one had tested the theory to determine if it is true.

Occasional reports of outliers compared to RL should be expected. There are ample opportunities for outliers because as a community we have played many more games and seasons in OOTP than have been played RL.

I have a current MLB setup of 30 teams. I have a completely fictional league with fictional players and ratings that mirror real MLB for 2026.

Any changes to league totals or talent levels in your league?

I've found that higher instances of 3HR games or 5 hit games are the way of the game trying to get comparable league totals.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that.

I agree. Lot's of users means more games played, more "dice rolls", and more opportunities for outliers to occur.

I've made a few small changes to a few modifiers, so I'll be interested to see the results.
