Advanced Stats Usage
Just Curious. If there was one stat you would use to measure effectiveness of a hitter, which one would you choose?
RC27? wRC? OPS+? Any other one?

Honestly, since I picked up OOTP18, OBP and SLG have seemed like the stickiest metrics for hitters.
I'm a former analyst for FanGraphs and similar sites, and OOTP's "better" stats like wRC+ have long failed to pass smell tests--so egregiously so that I've grown to ignore them. I should probably give them another chance in this version. |

There's a lot of debate about how closely these hue to reality, but I really like it. Whereas before BABIP was usually your main indicator whether someone was underperforming, there's much more colorful, full and fun ways to see that now. For pitchers and batters, and it's pretty consistent.

Quick correction: wRC+ smells right and has for several versions. I was thinking of WAR, which is just ludicrously wrong sometimes. You'll sometimes see a guy with an .800 OPS, positive fielding grades, and -0.7 WAR.

So wRC+ is now park-adjusted (was not at least through v24)?

I don't know. I remember that being an obvious problem on some Rockies sims I ran back in the day. However, park adjustments are pretty small outside of Coors, at least they are irl.
