Crashing instantly on Ubuntu Linux (Steam)

I'm using proton experimental on steam, when I hit play it instantly crashes, shows the window very briefly then closes. Anyone having issues or have a fix? I tested OOTP 26 and it worked perfectly. Any help is appreciated.

I am running Mint. Was having your same issue until I changed from some other version of Proton to experimental. Now this happens every 1st time I start the game, but the 2nd time it opens and runs perfect after I acknowledge the error message. 100% consistent issue thru 65 hours of running the game.
