Just in case anyone wants to get a head start: In the first update, we'll be enabling modding the 2D rink for individual teams:

-the modded image should have the format rink_team_name.png (e.g. rink_vancouver_canucks.png) and be placed in the \graphics\rink_pics folder of a quickstart or individual save
-the image needs to match playfield_0.png precisely in terms of dimensions (2880 x 1344) and the location of on-ice markings, or you'll see players doing things like skating off the ice, apparent offsides not being called, etc. - it's probably easiest just to set use playfield_0.png as a template and either draw your logos, etc. right on it or set it up as a layer so you can measure things exactly when you draw your own
-team logos won't appear if the rink is modded, you'll need to draw them right on the image

As for other moddable stuff in that folder, the big 300x300 logos obviously are, as puck.png and goal_def.png and goal_off.png. Anything else isn't used yet. If you change the goal images to a top-down version, you'll want the back of the net to match roughly where the bottom-inside is now (the place that shows up as a darker grey line when the image is at normal magnification.)
