Historical game crash

Am simming from 1969 to 1978, but at 1974 it comes up with invalid playoffs error, and when i put a new one in, and run again it crashes.

I like to edit my leagues so i've got a few options deselected league activation and league deactivation, roster rules, schedule lengths and draft changes are unselected.

I tried another game with the same settings and crashes at the same point.

Feels like there is a missing playoff option for 1974 onwards

The default NHL playoff system in 1974 needs four divisions to work, so if you still have the two-division format format, that's what's breaking it. It'll work if you either split them into four divisions, or choose a playoff system that doesn't require that structure (a simple one like "8 teams" will be OK.)

Alternately, turning "Playoff Changes" off in the historical league editing options (prior to July 1, 1974) will let you keep the playoff system that works with the current setup.

Thanks Jeff will try it tomorrow.Question though, I thought we had a setting that auto updated the divisions and teams to change as they did, is it still there or has it been removed? Otherwise i guess i'll have to manage the structure of the league every time it changes during my history run?

I don't think we've ever had an option that would preserve them once team activation/deactivation is turned on. The problem would be dealing with potential team additions/deletions, since any extra or fewer teams would potentially break the new league structure.

still getting that error only option selected is league activation and deactivated turned off

but dont get that error when its not. Which is really annoying as i don't want the wha turning up. Turning off league activation/deactivation shouldn't affect the playoffs though, never had this problem in previous games
