Subleague Expansion

Is it possible to expand a 1 subleague setup into a 2 subleague format without messing up the league history(champions page)?

My current random debut is in year 22. Started out as a 12 team one subleague, no divisions league and has expanded to 16 teams, one subleague, 2 divisions. The league has a northern division and a southern division. I've been towing with making the Southern Division into a separate subleague. This would definitely make future expansion a whole lot easier.

Decided to test this, before just impulsively jumping in. I created a fictional league that mirrored my current setup. I let the league sim for roughly 10 seasons. At this point, I added the second subleague and moved all the teams from the southern division to the new subleague. Right away I noticed a huge problem when I checked the league history page that displays the league champions. The league champions for all the seasons prior to the expansion to 2 subleagues are northern division teams. Even in the years that a southern division team won the championship.

Hoping maybe I'm simply missing a step Would love it if the champions page simply remained in it's historical format, displaying the league champions for all seasons.

looks like it is an issue if you go from 1 sub league to 2. also can have an issue if one of your champs moved sub leagues when you uped it to 2 subleagues.

though doesn't seem to be an issue if you move teams between subleagues if you started wirh 2 sub leagues

I still play 21 and this happens, so it’s an issue for several iterations of the game.

Yes, it's been an issue for as long as I can remember. This was the first I checked in several versions if the problem still exists. It clearly does. Ugh!

This is why every fictional league I create always starts with two sub-leagues, even when I don't really want to.
