Today's Best Report

Kind of similar to Baseball Tonight: I think it would be really sweet if OOTP made a report after every game day that listed things like a) everyone who hit a home run that day, b)best pitching performances, c)other notable events, like triple plays, 500th homers, etc.

Great idea!

I concur. A daily recap would be wonderful and could be incorporated into the leagues daily or weekly newspaper - THE LEAGUE'S SPORT PAGE and advertising flyer to help the wonderful folks at .400 Studios sell even more franchises!

For more information - see my comments under "More Bells & Whilstle's Please."

It doesn't seem like it would be very difficult to program.

I think this is a great idea... but.. OOTP5 html's are already 50MB+ in size. With a daily report... this would make the html report beyond reason no?

Unless you just had the report for the last day simmed????

That's what I was thinking... it would be the same report and would just write over itself every day. And if you think the day is notable enough, you can either print off the report or save it as a file under a different name.

This is a great idea. I'd like to see an adjustable option for the last X days, for those online leagues that sim several days at a time.

I like the idea a lot... A newspaper is one of the major areas I would LOVE to see. A couple comments that might help us get there

Two issues always come up when taking about added reports,

(1) Stories - this, as has een said many times, is difficult to do. When - if the game gets to this point, that's pretty much all Markus will be able to improve that go around... so let's turn our attention to added reports, like he added this year (almanac).

(2) Yes, each report adds more files which adds the need for more room - but the issue can be easily solved. How many reports the game generates isn't the issue (except for those with small hard drives) but getting them up to a webserver is.

If Markus were to make most of the reports optional (options for both generated AND packaging for upload) then we could easily choose which we wanted generated and which we wanted uploaded. Granted, we can do that now manually - but I think there are a number of folks out there that don't know how to deal with so many files, and would welcome a screen that does that for them.

Back to the original issue, however, I would LOVE a daily report !!!

Great idea I 'd like to see it done like this. I don't see much point in having it saved for a whole season.

Regarding this issue, what if several members of the community were allowed to write the stories for various events? That would save Markus a lot of time, as he would just have to do the programming aspect of it. Or do you mean that it will be very difficult to program the stories? It seems like all that would be needed is for the game to run a check each day for the notable events (was there a 3 HR game, was there a 500th homer, etc.) and then spit that information out into a report. If there's another complicated step in that process that I'm missing, let me know.

Related to this, I'd also like to see a report of injuries and transactions that occured for the day. Sometimes those League Injuries and League Transactions reports can get a bit long - so it takes awhile to generate the report and look and see what happened. It'd be nice to have a "daily overview" type thing (just like a sports page) that has all the box scores, roster moves, home runs, etc.

The page could be overwritten every day so that you didn't accumulate a bunch of duplicate information. But I think it would add a lot to the game to have a "Day in Review" type feature.

Can anyone else think of other things to add?
