Crashing with OOTP4

I've been trying to create a new league with OOTP4.

When I begin my Historical league, the window opens that says loading database, then loading IDs, and then it shows the first six players names that are being generated, but after George Sisler (the sixth player) OOTP crashes to my desktop.

Any ideas? I looked around but haven't seen this particular problem in a search I did.

I'm able to create it without problems with my older, OOTP3, but not OOTP4.

HELP!

Do you have the right version of the database?

Something doesn't sound right. George Sisler the sixth player being imported?

Have you tried importing another year? Perhaps it's 1921 that's kerfloogled somehow.

I'm importing 1927, and yes George Sisler is the 6th guy, and then CRASH.

I might be just plain stupid. The jury is still out deciding.

See, that doesn't soudn right. The import goes alphabetically, so there should be a bunch more players before George Sisler.

I'm not 100 percent sure, but I don't think I've ever seen an import go alphabetically. From what I recall anyway.

When I created a league the other night in OOTP3 I could swear it wasn't alphabetical.

Maybe others could weigh in on this question.

I remember them as being alphabetical. But I can't confirm that because I don't have OOTP4 with me. Maybe you should hope for a Kuffrey or Vibert sighting.

Has the Lahman 4.5 database ever worked for you? Are you specifiying Lahman 4.5 or Lahman 4.x? You need to specify 4.5 to use Lahman 4.5; Lahman 4.x works only with Lahman 4.0.

Also you are running an older version of OOTP4, there are several patches that came out after 4.0b.

I've downloaded Lahman 4.5, but my OOTP does say it's 4.0b, so I suppose that is the culprit? I need OOTP 4.2, I guess. I downloaded 4.2 the other day and I couldn't unzip. Problems with the download, probably because I was using my 56k modem on my older CPU. I'll D/L again tonight using my DSL line and see if it works.

and after I extract the files, I double click on the OOTP4 icon and the monitor goes black, with only a cursor. And it just sits there as a black screen and does nothing.

What am I missing?
