KFC- World Series of Boxing

A pound for pound universe using fighters in my database rated 7 or higher. Starting with fighters that began their career in 1899 or earlier. Fighters will enter the universe when they began boxing in real life. All fighters start at Prime.

I'm using an adopted method from Cube to age the fighters.

The universe will be divided into 4 groups:

World Series (16 boxers - 2 Groups of eight)
Bush League (32 boxers - 4 Groups of eight)
Golden Gloves (32 boxers - 4 Groups of eight)
Rookie League (remaining boxers - will organize groups as needed)

Each year, all groups will hold round robin tournaments to determine who advances, who stays and who gets demoted.

GROUP PLAY
World Series Group:

Will be divided into 2 groups of eight boxers. At the end of the round-robin tournaments, 1st & 2nd place finishers of both groups will box-off to determine the seasons World Series Champ.
5th & 6th place of both groups will box-off with the second place finishers of the Bush League. Winner to the World Series group, loser to the Bush League.
7th & 8th place of both groups will be demoted to the Bush League

Bush-League:
Divided into 4 groups of eight.

1st place finishers of all 4 groups will be promoted to the World Series group.
2nd place finishers will box-off against 5th & 6th place from the World Series group. Winners to the WS group, losers to the Bush-League.
5th & 6th place finishers will box-off against 3rd & 4th place from the Golden Gloves group. Winners to the Bush-League group, losers to the Golden Gloves group.
7th & 8th place from all 4 groups will be demoted to the Golden Gloves group.

Golden Gloves:

1st & 2nd place finishers of all 4 groups will be promoted to the Bush-League group.
3rd & 4th place will box-off against the 5th & 6th place finishers from the Bush-League. Winners to the Bush-League group & losers to Golden Gloves group.
5th, 6th, 7th & 8th place from all 4 groups will enter a box-off against the top 16 fighters from the Rookie League. Winners to the Golden Gloves group, losers to the Rookie League.

Rookie League
All fighters entering their first season will start in the Rookie League

SAL another question after the "champion" is declared you move on to the next "season" say Larry Foley goes 8-1 stays in the world series and Peter Jackson at 7-0 and the next season Foley goes 12-5 and Jackson 14-0. Would Foley say go to #2 on his overall or would he drop lower since he went 4-4 the next "season"? Even better example would be Jimmy Elliott say goes 11-5-1 would he be 3rd due to his overall record or higher because he went 6-1-0 in the next season? Another question would be how would you bring in teh new fighters would you have them fight against the ones that got regulated due to losing in the golden gloves or are they on their own?

I'm using a form of Cube's aging system. All fighters start at Prime with 135 career points. Each fight costs a fighter 1 career point, a loss is an additional 2 pts or a draw is an additional 1 point. Once a fighter reaches 30 points, he will go post-prime, down to 10 points, end.

The champions will be seasonal just like in baseball, football, etc.

The season record for each fighter will start at 0-0-0 (0) every year for the Round Robin tournaments in all groups. I'm just maintaining the career record for aging. The round robin record is what counts year to year to qualify for the World Series championship.

interesting on the aging system so a season record then a career record is separate so the only way a "champion" can defend is being in the top 4 the following season so a 7-1 one season and a 4-4 next is probably not in the playoff next season. This is a VERY INTERESTING system I am looking at a few tweaks to adapt to my system and I really like this format you came up with.

well I made a few tweaks to mine. only changes I made are the rookies of 16 fighting 5-8 place in golden gloves winners goes to Golden Gloves losers are RETIRED!, changing Bush League to Contender.and after the tournaments are done after the round robins (in second year final months) I'll put the fighters that are in each group and RANDOMLY assign them to their new groups. ( made a kick ass excel program to do just that

). The last change I am making is in the aging beginner 8 fights to pre prime then 8 more to prime 36 to 54 to go to post prime 18 to 36 to End and 8 to 9 more to retire. (max number of fights in a two year period will be 9 (championship tourney))

Thanks Sal now with over 20k of REAL fighters I'll get them into this uni eventually

i decided to RFG 96 fighters then randomly assign them to the groups (many of which came over from my other uni) and then start bringing 8 real and 8 rfg fighters every two years. This just might be one of my more FUN uni's and i split them up into my classic 0-6 and 7-15 rated groups should be fun

Abe is a Featherweight. This is a P4P universe. No adjustments when a smaller guy fights a larger man.

Winners to the Bush-League group & losers to Golden Gloves group. 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th place from all 4 groups will enter a box-off against the top 16 fighters from the Rookie League. zyberianwarrior All Star Starter Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Columbia TN Posts: 1,521	SAL another question after the "champion" is declared you move on to the next "season" say Larry Foley goes 8-1 stays in the world series and Peter Jackson at 7-0 and the next season Foley goes 12-5 and Jackson 14-0. Would Foley say go to #2 on his overall or would he drop lower since he went 4-4 the next "season"? Even better example would be Jimmy Elliott say goes 11-5-1 would he be 3rd due to his overall record or higher because he went 6-1-0 in the next season? Another question would be how would you bring in teh new fighters would you have them fight against the ones that got regulated due to losing in the golden gloves or are they on their own?

zyberianwarrior All Star Starter Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Columbia TN Posts: 1,521	interesting on the aging system so a season record then a career record is separate so the only way a "champion" can defend is being in the top 4 the following season so a 7-1 one season and a 4-4 next is probably not in the playoff next season. This is a VERY INTERESTING system I am looking at a few tweaks to adapt to my system and I really like this format you came up with.

zyberianwarrior All Star Starter Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Columbia TN Posts: 1,521	well I made a few tweaks to mine. only changes I made are the rookies of 16 fighting 5-8 place in golden gloves winners goes to Golden Gloves losers are RETIRED!, changing Bush League to Contender.and after the tournaments are done after the round robins (in second year final months) I'll put the fighters that are in each group and RANDOMLY assign them to their new groups. ( made a kick ass excel program to do just that ). The last change I am making is in the aging beginner 8 fights to pre prime then 8 more to prime 36 to 54 to go to post prime 18 to 36 to End and 8 to 9 more to retire. (max number of fights in a two year period will be 9 (championship tourney))
