Firefox users, click this button if necessary!

Now, when your post is set to plain text, format commands will be spelled out like this bolded part (see image below) instead of appearing as they will in the post. (Also see how my smiley faces are "spelled out" there, too.)

Do you have any idea how many hornswoggling man-years I have spent, previewing my posts and editing out the extra paragraph breaks? And then, while editing, if I inserted another paragraph break, having to do preview and edit again? Do you? ()

I was even recently reduced to using Microsoft Edge just for these OOTPD forums. It worked, but Edge just isn't on the same plane as Firefox.

By the way, if you search and find advice to call up about:config in Firefox to toggle this switch from "True" to "False": editor.use_div_for_default_newlines, I tried that, three times. It did not work.

Instead, the A/A button is my friend.

Wow, I am free as a bird.

I can type these lines at will.

And not have to revisit them to remove unsightly white space.

But I must remember to hit that A/A button first!

Because it does not work retroactively, only going forward.

Well, here's to my next 11,000+ posts done in style!

Or, that is, without style. Pre-style. You know what I mean.

Look at all these paragraphs! Single-spaced, every one of 'em.

If you buy what I have been saying here, Firefox users, then perhaps you want to do the following:
  • Click your forum name and View Public Profile.
  • Click the User CP tab.
  • Scroll down to SETTINGS & OPTIONS and select Edit Options.
  • Scroll all the way down to MISCELLANEOUS OPTIONS.
  • Under Message Editor Interface, there is a drop-down box with three options. By default, this is set for Full WYSIWYG Editing.
  • Now you don't want the Basic Editor which is just a simple text box. You do want the capability of bolding, italicizing, including smilies, etc., and this will inhibit those tools.
  • It's the option in the middle to select: Standard Editor with Extra Formatting Controls.
This is the equivalent of turning off the A/A button that I mentioned, only now it will be off by default; you will not need to remember to turn it off every time you go to post.
