Historical minor leaguers only importing as first basemen

For whatever reason when I do this, I enter the ID and year as normal then hit 'include players in minor league database' it always imports them as first basemen only, and does so even for the pitchers too, does anyone know why? It never does this for major leaguers only players in the minor league database.

Are you using their major league ID or minor league ID to import them?

(You want to use the minor league ID)

I'm attempting to import some guys who only ever played in the minor leagues, so I think that means they only have a minor league ID

Can you provide an example?

What version are you on? There was a bug in this area a few versions ago.

I still play 24, but it has done this when I tried to import murray001ern, treat-001par, and even more modern ones like beato-001ben. They all appear in the game but just as first basemen.

I should also mention that I have it set to import random minor leaguers from all eras to appear in the draft pool automatically and all of them are first basemen too.
