I'm banging around in low diamond at around a .500 clip (give or take year to year), but I've been rolling with a pretty abysmal 12-13% chemistry on my team. I just changed a few players around (relief pitches) to bump my chemistry to 19%. But I'm wondering if it's truly worth it? Is the slightly less stats on a couple of relief pitchers worth the overall 7% chemistry gain? I guess I'll find out.
I've never bothered with the chemistry system in PT before, and it's a black box to me. I would presume overall chemistry affects ALL players on your team. However, the in-game description in one section makes sound like it might only affect the players whose individual chemistry contribution is higher: "cards that share a link with others on your active roster will benefit from a performance enhancement during game situations." The overall description at the bottom of the left pane then makes me think it affects the whole team by saying "Your team accumulates 2132 chemistry points in total, achieving a performance increase of about 19.25% of the maximum possible boost." Can't find any good descriptions with a chemistry search here, figured I'd poke around and see if anyone else had some experience here. Anyone with good experiences? Bad experiences? I hate how much of a black box it is. Would like to know the maximum boost (yes I get that 100% is the most you can get, but what % boost does that translate into for performance? Is it truly a 1-for-1 100% boost?) so I can roughly calculate if it's truly worth the tradeoffs here.

i would almost completely ignore it at this point in the game. if you have two similar players, maybe do one that gives a lot more, but otherwise i would just not even think about it.

This was apparently created to give theme teams a hand up, although only vague information is being provided. I played around with it in PT25 and found that teams would over-perform once they hit the 75% threshold, which was doable since the Mission Edition cards had cross-chemistry. This has been removed in PT26, so anyone running a relatively standard team won't get anywhere near that.
Is there any real benefit to having, say, 25% vs. 15% chemistry? None that I can see. I ran a nearly-all-Negro League team in some tournaments with chemistry over 50%, and there was no noticeable benefit. Basically seems like an unusable feature as currently implemented. Maybe if you're running all Yankee or Dodger teammates.... |
