Some crazy new cards
Hey, PT has its quirks but props to the devs and company for maintaining a vibrant additional way to interact with the impressive OOTP game engine and other players.
That said, I know the main aim is not statistically accurate reproduction of performances, but holy cow some recent cards have been hyperbole. Musial's 103 card almost all in the 100s across the board on outfield defense. Geez. He was smart, positioned himself well which overcame his limited speed on ranging, and committed very few errors in the OF, but still he seems way inflated. Especially his arm. In fact, his lowest rating is his error rating? Rhetorical question but what in the world is that based on--that should likely have been his best attribute. Basically, the top 4 players in the tournament got to choose whatever card they wanted, which would be theirs to keep and wouldn't be able to sell. Basically, the guy wanted a souped-up Musial, and he got one.

Since the OP is all about defense, I can point out that 1944 was Musial's best defensive season (1943 was close), so it shouldn't be surprising that his defensive ratings are better than expected. Factors that assisted him would include:
1. Age, as he was still only 23 years old and getting better every season; 2. Playing the short-porch right field at Sportsman's Park, which was the easiest of the three St. Louis outfield positions (left field, where Musial played during his 1942 rookie season, was quite a bit more spacious and had a wicked power alley...ask the Red Sox, because that was where the base hit that started Enos Slaughter's mad dash landed); 3. Having an awful lot of baseball's top hitters in the military rather than in MLB, which meant less hard-hit balls overall (and the minor leagues were in even worse shape than the majors, so replacements were hard to come by). So, by 1944 standards, Stan's defensive ratings probably aren't any more "souped up" than the rest of that thoroughly-awesome card. As a side note, someone should tell the player who's locked up 820,000 PP with a bid on that card that it can't be sold. Last edited by LeeD; 09-10-2025 at 10:49 PM. |

IS there any way to know, or does anyone have any info, if new cards are being released today in the clubhouse shop. I saw some alert or something about new cards but can't find it now. I have 500 Stars burning a hole in my pocket but if new cards are dropping today I would like to see those.
Thanks! |
