Wins 95 Games and Doesn't Advance ??

This isn't me. It's a rival in LS who is stuck in LS despite going 95-67, 1st place but not winning playoffs.

Why wasn't this team moved up to HS at least? Manager would have Zero motivation to improve the team.

The answer depends on a lot of factors:
  • How many teams were to be moved up from Low Silver to High Silver after this past Sunday?
  • What were the records of the other teams in his league? Were there other teams with better records?
  • Did he lose in the Wild Card/Divisional Round?
Those are the first questions I will ask, because I don't know. My best guess right now is they were a team that didn't win enough games to get a Super Promotion (I forget off the top of my head, but the highest a SP can go is Low Gold), lost in the first round of the playoffs and just barely missed out on promotion.

For the sake of market research, I'm specifically not playing this year because of that little gem. When you put it together with how often the 3 best teams are put in the same division, it's not good.

I also suspect you have teams who win 85 games, squeak in to the playoffs, then use a bunch of points to beef up their roster and knock off a team that had a better regular season.

I won 97 games in LS this season and lost in the first round to an 85 win team in the first round.

If you win your division you should get promoted. In a season of 162 games a 5 game sample size is really dumb to tank someone.

Playoff performance being valued for promotion (outside of super promotion) has always been the norm for how teams get promoted. Is it flawed? Yes. Is it gonna change anytime soon? Probably not, unless y'all have a way to reward both regular season and postseason performance while keeping the pyramid structure (which is not going to change), the MLB-style playoffs that every league excluding late-cycle PeL is based on, and super promotions

Maybe they can add a rule similar to MLB where if you acquire a player after a certain date or number of games played they are not eligible for the post season?

Well, in 1960 a powerful Yankees team went to game 7 of the world series against an overachieving Pirates team and "lost one game." So the Yankees will never be able to call themselves the best team in the 1960 season. (And for those of you who don't know, I am a Pittsburgh native, avid Pirate fan, and was in 5th grade in 1960. I was over the moon, as were nearly all of my classmates.)

A 'trade deadline' is a decent idea, but new content comes out on Thursdays. The end of play Thursday would mark the equivalent of the MLB trade deadline. They aren't going to put that in and punish people who can't play on Thursdays for some reason.

You could make the deadline the end of play on Friday, which gives a full day for people to possibly pull a card or overpay in the AH. It would also line up with MLB roster expansion.. so any card added on Saturday wouldn't be eligible for Sunday.

It could work, but who knows if they could actually get that added in the code.

Teams with the best records don't get a trophy. The World Series winner gets the trophy. That said, I wouldn't find anything wrong with promoting the league champions plus the next however-many teams sorted by regular season records.
