Sprucing Up the NJ Stars
Hey there everyone, long time listener first time caller
So I've reached 2034 in my main save, and MLB has reached 42 teams (with full minor leagues, but that's a story for another time). One of the most successful new teams are the New Jersey Stars, under this logo: ![]() It looks . . . alright, but I've never been completely happy with how it looks. So, the front office has decided it's time to revitalise their image. Would anyone here might like to have a go at sharpening up the Stars? The only requirements would be to keep the colour scheme - black, white, and vermilion (D12E05) - and the star motif. Beyond that, no pressure - if you'd like to have a go, go wild! |

New Jersey Stars 1
Ok I got two ideas, one is simple, and one is... not
I thought I could fit a pitcher onto a star, so I went to the war list on baseball reference for players born in New Jersey. I decided to draw Don Newcombe pretty much because I thought I could use this for the Newark Eagles too if I finish it.there's a big N and J on the sides of the star in white. It doesn't show up on the message board. They both have white outlines. Do you have a founding date for the team? I could replace his number. I think this needs to be rearranged a bit and maybe it doesn't work, but I enjoyed drawing it tonight. edit: I think if I angle him a little I can fit him on the star better Last edited by 20_range; 03-12-2025 at 10:17 PM. |

New Jersey Stars smaller
Yes, not sure where to put words on this one, but the effect of windup-on-star seems better. It could say NJ instead of a number, but that would be sort of weird. It's more of a league logo really
perhaps it'll have another life as one.

That first logo looks excellent - a bit like Juventus' new logo. I like the idea of a more modern "NJ" logo to go with the Yankees/Mets as well.
Would I be able to prevail on you to make a solid white and a vermilion "NJ" as well? That way I can use them for small/cap logos too. |

Are any of these better than the first one?

Nashville Stars
Cutting off the top part of the N produces something very like the Minnesota North Stars (colors from Tennessee flag). I'll try to think of something. Did you see this new logo?

Newark Eagles 1
Here this is as the Newark Eagles Negro League team, with colors from one of their uniforms - I'm going to use something like this version for my league, once I think of a different short name
edit: I forgot to link to this wild story about Don Newcombe suing over use of his likeness Last edited by 20_range; 03-13-2025 at 10:27 PM. |

I looked quickly and there are just lots of great Nashville Stars logos on this board - ryqisc, itmbs, TX-- I also want to do one, or something adjacent to it. I think I'll try to draw a NEL player in the style of R. Crumb.

Nashville Stars
This is what I've come up with. It's conceptually inspired by the NLB 100th anniversary logo (a player with his face in shadow is such a good idea to commemorate these leagues). It's based on this picture of HOF Turkey Stearns, who was born in Nashville.
I think that something else could go in the space where I've just put an extra line, but I can't figure out what. (I really wanted to incorporate the nickname of the ballpark Sulfur Dell where the Nashville teams played in the 20th century, "Suffer Hell". This logo could also be used for a similar team. Newark Newks and Newark Eagles 2
I'm finding even more stuff in my files that I didn't post. Here this is with a different uniform color, as the Newks for Don Newcombe, and two Ns.
